Yep, I'll be there too. Still 15 euro to enter, and looks like it's the two lap course from last year again.

Signed up for this aswell, the south sides equivalent of the Raheny 5 in my opinion.

totally agree, two top races. The difference is this one doesnt have that hill from the coast up to Raheny so is a quicker course but two great races.

I lived in D6 for 3.5 years, entered this race twice and to my great regret never made the startline on either occasion (injury and a hangover:rolleyes: respectively).

It looks a very fast course anyway.

Those reports from Leixlip are getting me itchy to race. Sub-34 next week in my new Boards top - who else is in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,934 ✭✭✭Dotcomdolly

I did 44:31 last year at this, hope to shave it down to 44 or less, but we'll see, haven't been running as much as I was last year. I will be trying to implement my new chi-running techniques too, so watch me lean :D

Yes, it used to be one lap, going up as far as Terenure I think, changed to two laps last year.

Yes it's the same two course lap as last year. Nice and fast with some long straights.

    You can see it here.

I read somewhere that there is no bag drop for this, and you should show up ready to go?

Could someone somewhat in the know confirm? [If so, it just involve me having to do some cunning planning, since I dont drive!]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,049 ✭✭✭groovyg

I did it two years ago and just left my bag in the School where registration was on, kind like the bhaa races leave it in the place where registration is on. I didn't have anything valuable like a wallet or phone just some money for bus fare and get some food afterwards.

There is no official bag drop area. Apart from the biggest races it's uncommon to have one. As suggested best to leave your gear in the school (Race HQ) which is a short walk/ jog from the finish. Refreshments are available in that area after the race.

Obviously you leave gear at your own risk but I've never heard of peoples stuff being moved, taken etc.

Oh Im not expecting anything fancy, I will chuck a couple of things in old bag and leave it in school, thats perfect.

I was just concerned that I heard that there was nothing at all.

I was just checking this myself at the moment. Sunday morning is predicted
to be the nicest part of the weekend.

I have loads of reasons to run this.

It is just down the road, I want to time myself over 8K, to gauge how far I am from my goal of a sub 50 min 10K. I have a lovely new boards ac top to show off and a chance to meet other people in boards ac tops.

The only problem is that I am just a bit demotivated.
My legs have recovered from the half marathon, but I dont think my head has. I have gone as far as think of weak excuses like " I cant leave the OH with a 7 year old with a slight cold, the house will fall apart without me for 1.5 hours on Sunday morning".

I need someone to tell me that I HAVE to be there on Sunday morning.
I do think I will regret it, if I dont bother.

I'll be there, and will be wearing short shorts, now you wouldn't want to miss that! ;)
Plus lovely tea & sandwiches after.
And getting away from a 7 year old with a slight cold would work for me , heartless mammy that I am .

From reading race reports from last year, it seems there is a bit of a drag up Whitehall Road.Is this the only uphill section on the course? I'm hoping it's not like Roebuck Road, uphill sections always put me well off pace:rolleyes:

Check out my garmin link to last years route. 50ft of rise in the whole course (about 15m) indicates that there is virtually no uphill's at all. You won't get a flatter course unless you run around a track :). The only problem with the whitehall rd section last year is that it was into a bit of a headwind. It is absolutely nothing like the Roebuck rd.

The course is very flat but its a long drag along Whitehall road. Good course for PB if the wind is good to us on Sunday.

9.30 officially I think. Allot of people register on the day so I'd advise being there for 9. Race starts at 10

Everyone is at the same disadvantage and it will be helping you along on other parts of the course:)

Very enjoyable race, lots of marashals and folks to help. I now fully understand why lots of people only run club races [after this one and St Pats 5k in town].

It was also excellent to meet so many folks from boards, a bunch of whom I had not met before, so it was great
