I won't lie I really wish I could move and live there, be a barman for a few months or something, It basically has everything anyone could ask for.
The perfect weather, the perfect locations, women, people, It has it all.

Although it makes me wonder why is Spain such a popular tourist destination, and also any advice on how it is possible to gain residence in said country would be highly appreciated.

No idea. Perhaps we Europeans should form some sort of union.

The English Englishised it in probably the 70s for an ideal package deal location on the med that wasn't France. It's been popular ever since as it is affordable to most. Can't have peeps going without their eggyweggs and chips.

Here is my poem about why Spain is beautiful

Your golden beaches refresh my soul
and I look to your heavenly coast
    You sparkle, like a diamond
Forever lost in shades of remorse

Oh how I wish you well
    Among your sandy beach-filled shores
And I long to be back in your arms
Once again I dare not leave

Ah that's only some of the resorts op, and why it is tourist friendly. There are many fine cities in Spain, with plenty of bars to work in. You can avoid the Anglicised versions quite easily.

The good points, you are legally allowed grow one marijuana plant for PU and the bars stay open late.

Yeah but the Brits paved the way for the Irish to arrive and behave like that, is what I meant.

As for residency, if you're an EU citizen you can live and work in any EU country (except Ireland cos there's no jobs;))

this. i live on the border with france and do my absolute best to avoid areas with either brits or irish. there is a thread in the oz forum about irish over there.

ive lived on the costa del sol, costa blanca and the north and heres my tip:

i cant believe people actually pay to go to the south of spain when you have this. i have never been somewhere so beautiful in my life. world class surfing, world class climbing some good skiing, cider!, and the best food in spain full stop. if you like partying there is fiestas all summer and san sebastien is a couple of hours away. check the beaches out:

I'd love to live south of Spain, every time I go over there and I get the longing not to leave, somewhere like Nerja is my dream place...
And then I bump into some middle aged red crinkly English couple who insist on telling us how fabulous their life is since they moved over and the yearning goes off me.

Perhaps for the same reason Italy is also the most loved destination? Beautiful country, and 1 of the sexiest in Europe next to Italy and probably Sweden lets face it, Spain, Italy, Sweden is as hot as people get in Europe.

Sweden may have some sexies, but scandinavia is pretty boring and a pretty boring history sooooooo despite the sexy people its not a top destination.

Spain is grand but Italy for me is a much more attractive proposition. Superior culture all round, more places of interest to see from Roman ruins to Renaissance architecture. It has better food and wine, not as commercialised as Spain and some of the most charming and friendly people one could wish to meet. Oh and Italy has better looking ladies :)

There are also some stunning beaches on the adriatic coast that are practically empty in the summer, not like Spain that's full of boozed up Brits and Irish on cheap package holidays.

Yes, for a really unique holiday experience, go to Italy, the true home of culture.

My parents moved there a few years ago and love it, its sunny most of the year, the cost of living is far cheaper, they have a car so can take trips up the coast if they wish and they're not in a touristy area. its mostly a seasonal place where spanish people own holiday homes so its got a mix of e classic spain and modern one. Im actually there right now, coming home tomorrow :(

Fairly small town but with a lot of english/irish bars so managed to pick up work there, but when i was out I went to spanish bars.. Theres some cracking places when you go of the beaten track by a couple of miles

Cheaper living, warmer tempretures and a better work/living ratio
