You don't have to pay the 2K right away, just the e93. Say you're pending confirmation of the grant.

    If they argue, email me.

I just got a letter about the fees, it says that if I'm waitng for a confirmation I have to pay and once my Local Authority approves my grant and lodge it to their account they will refund me 2000euro. But I still worry about it, 2000euro is a lot of money

They say you've to pay it up front and that you'll be refunded. In reality, you don't have to pay it at all if you qualify for a grant of any kind. At registration, tell them that you're awaiting confirmation from your Local Authority and you should be fine.

But will they issue me a student ID card. it says that I won't get one until 2000euro will be pais by either me or CC

Yes, basically, you'll get your student card if the college knows they will be getting their money. :)

So I have to pay because I don't even have a confirmation that I am waiting for my grants as I will be sending my application maybe tomorrow (deadline in my County Council is on 25th November)

If you are desperate to get your student card then yes you'll have to pay up front. If you don't have the 2k you will probably survive without your student card until the grant confirmation comes through.

I will pay it but I just have worries that I might have some problems with getting my money back

You really only need your student card for the library and for swiping into Science/Engineering labs or the music practice rooms. And the Library don't penalise until most all first round grants have come in and everyone has their card.

You only need one or the other for getting student tickets, not both.

    Good to know that.
But I am just wondering, won't I have problems with getting my refund because I can pay that 2000

No you won't; I had to do the same thing last year. If you pay the €2000 and then you get accepted for a grant, you'll get the money refunded to you. It does take a while for the money to be refunded though (iiic, I got the refund cheque in like March).

You don't really have to pay the €2000 if you know you'll be getting the grant; it's not overly awkward not having a student card for a few weeks. I paid it last year because it wasn't certain I'd get a grant due to being a repeat student. But if you know you'll get one, there's no harm in waiting.

Don't worry about that, they have no probs refunding it once the grant comes through :)

I will pay as I can wait good few months to get my grant as I didn't apply yet, but I'm glad that I shouldn't have any problems with getting a refund.

CIE AND IRISH RAIL ONLY ACCEPT STUDENT TRAVELCARDS, NOT REGULAR STUDENT CARDS.

    Just so nobody gets stung.

P.S. I worked out where I went wrong. Damn words sounding too alike and confusing me when I'm meant to be typing.
I knew I couldn't have just mixed the words up like that!
    Now I feel better
