Turned up in his usual pink t shirt and slacks to government buildings today. This man is obviously taking the p*ss? either that or he purposely sets out to be scruffy.

Dont forget to wear your skinny jeans and hipster glasses.

I listened to the Mick Wallace Attire waaaaaaaay before they released their first limited edition EP on leopard skin vinyl.

Over the last fourteen years, much piss was taken by men who wore suits in the Dáil. I couldn't care less whether a TD adheres to any silly, old-fashioned dress codes. Mick Wallace seems like one of the good guys.

Do you mean in the same way the last crowd were taking the piss, or in a different way?

Yeah I have great respect for the man I think he is one of the very few genuine people who ran for election. But surely the Dáil has some sort of a rule if not formal but an etiquette over what a politician can and cannot wear.

The logic displayed in this post illustrates exactly why we end up with the quality of elected officials that we do.

I couldn't care less if he wore a suit. I don't get people's obsession with suits. I had to wear them for the best part of 10 years and watch people faff on about eterna shirts, gucci shoes, armani suits ... seriously, it's a bloody suit, wearing it doesn't automatically make you good at what you do.

The most impressive people I've met down through the years didn't wear suits. The wealthiest guy I know looks like a beach bum surfer, and has to be the most down to earth guy around. If you saw him, you'd hardly think he had a collection of supercars and boats, and would assume he's on the dole. Book, cover, the, don't, judge, by, its, a - rearrange these words into a well known yet boring phrase.

Wallace looks like britany spears in drag!

It's quite embarrassing to think that when foreign countries look at our government, they have britany standing at one end and Michael Healy Rae who looks like something out of "the field" standing at the other!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,778 ✭✭✭Pauleta

TBH i would rather our politicians dressed smartly in the dail. Its an honour and a privilege to be elected to represent the people of this country. I would prefer them to dress as it was a big occasion. Obviously being a good politician is the real important thing but i want them to look good doing it.

Sure Tony Gregory didn't wear a tie, if you ask me standards have been slipping since that was permitted...

I don't care if he and all the others only wore a bright pink pair of knickers every day as once they get the country back on it's feet....

Yes, but if you look at Obama. He is one of the most powerful world leaders and always turns out impeccable! Sarkozy is another example, he looks quite dapper. It's not a case of getting over ourselves. I wouldn't think it's very respectful of the likes of Wallace to turn up to the dail in his pink t shirts.

These guys have to realise that they are our government and have to leave the jeans and t shirts to their days off. I mean people already think we are a joke and then they take one look at him and that would be it! A dress code needs to be implemented in the dail ASAP

well if you want to get a hard on for the politician thats up to you , ladies say Enda is quite the man , i prefere policies rather than looks.

Fair play to Mick Wallace as he said i dont own a suit and i dont intend to buy one.
This suit business will have to stop, i hate suits and have only worm one twice in my life, Ming is the same he wont wear a suit either which is great, some people seem to think that if you dont wear a suit then you are not professional.
In fact i have more respect when business people dont wear suits than when they do.

perhaps mick may be denied entry to the Dail bar , where said piss was drank, and then urinated down the toilet , along with the country -

p.s good man Mick , good to have a bit of individuality, rather than the stereotypical drunken corrupt Irish politician in a tin of fruit

I don't think your getting what I'm trying to say. At the end of the day, (and i hate to say it) a suit will always get you more power and respect over a person going for the scruffy look. Simple as!

    Example.

You are an employer and you have two potential employees sitting in front of you, with equal qualifications. Who would you employ? Obviously the person who looks more professional.

Yeah, no hard ons here I'm afraid..don't do older men!

Only shallow husks would begrudge the man his choice in cloths..

It's not about being shallow. It's a matter of personal opinion.

At the end of the day, if you want a professional company, your hire professional people as an entire package, based on their qualifications, experience, ability and professional appearance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,370 ✭✭✭✭Son Of A Vidic

I'd much prefer a nut wearing pink, than a sleveen wearing a suit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,571 ✭✭✭Aoifey!

I don't see how what a person wears has any effect at all on their ability to make decisions on the good of the country.

Besides, he'd look ridiculous in a suit!

It is indeed about being shallow, I'm afraid. if you judge a person by their cloths you are being shallow, fancy it up with business bollocks talk all you like.

does wearing a suit make someone work better???

first time I've ever came across this seeing as most of the suits I've come across have been pricks who think their someone because of the suit

Gandhi wore a loincloth and Michael Collins cycled a bicycle, but if you think suits and Mercs are essential you're entitled to your opinion. I know which I'd rather be paying for.
I've also rarely seen Bill Gates or Steve Jobs wear a suit.

What people wear doesn't affect their performance at the job, so honestly I could care what he turns up to work in. So long as he's not breaking a dress code or rockin' into Leinster House in a mankini then why does it matter?

i remember reading an article a few years back and he said that he has never owned a suit....

i reckon they have a lot more to worry about in the dail than their wardrobe.
