How many rest days do you have

    Just curious. This fitness lark is very addictive and I usually ca't help going to the gym nearly every day either doing a cardio session or the weiights session as part of my program. I was just wondering how many rest days do you have and on rest days do you do complete feck all physical exercise

    When i was trying to lose weight i would do rowing or spin or running or cardio of some description every day and take sunday off

    My fat loss hit a wall so ive been lifting heavy and eating heavy to build some more muscle so i do 3 heavy(for me)weights sessions a week and always take the next day off, thanks to doms i will be sore so i dont do nothing, i might gentle swim or stretch.....thats just my own setup..ya prob find each to their own!!

    About 18 months once...:D

    On a serious note I'd like to hit the gym for cv or weights 6 times a week so for me an ideal scenario would be 1-2 non training days per week.

    However I am trying to regain the mindset that early am cv work is just active recovery and not really a 'session' etc.

    For a long time between all I was doing I had 1 day off a week and I was a wreck. I hated sitting on my ass watching telly and had to be doing something.
    Now I just lift 3 days and climb the odd big hill/small mountain and Im much stronger for it. Since quiting football my cardios gone to crap but ill gradually improve that over the next few months

    The only person that can ever tell is you because each persons ability to recovery is different plus it depends on how tough those sessions were on your body.
    If you stick to one of the well known programmes that are tried and tested rest days are programmed in. Well down the road when you know your own limits maybe look at changing things up or down.
    Looking back at when I didnt rest enough, a blindingly obvious indication shouldve been how much better I did in the gym after a few days when I couldnt do anything gym or sports related, course I was too stubborn to admit that to myself :rolleyes:

    I usually do 2 or 3 days in a row then have a rest day. My exercise is quite varied with weights, cardio and yoga so I'm never doing the exact same thing 2 days in a row. Sometimes I go for a walk with a friend on a rest day but usually I do no exercise on them.

    I try to take at least one rest day..sometimes I'm successful other times I'm not. I'm getting better at it though:)

    In my experience you are better off having at least two rest days between sessions if you are finding one rest day leaves you tired and weak.

    For example, when I started taking more rest days I found I made huge progress at the bench press.

    I also take a week off every 6 weeks or so.

    Experiment to see what's best for your body. Don't just do what the internet says. :)

    true if ur looking to increase strength but if ur goal is to build muscle, loose fat etc 2-3 sessions per week prob won't cut it
