Slimming down and cutting novice!

Hi there, been weight training for about 4 years years now with mainly rugby being the reason I started. I have bulked up quite substantially with all my major lifts being at a fairly decent level. I currently weigh about 98Kg's and am in fairly decent shape but prob carrying a bit more bulk than I'd like.

However I'm currently on a sabbatical from the game so the rugby orientated workouts I have been doing aren't really of that much interest to me at the moment. I'd love if anyone had a workout for both cardio and weights training which is more designed towards toneing, cutting and shaping rather than the mass building and strength workouts I have been doing. i'd have a fairly decent idea of diet and nutrition but if anyone has any suggestions or comments in that area they'd also be a great value.
    Any help appreciated,
    Cheers.

Getting cut is all about the diet mate. If you have the bulk already I would take it handy on the weights. Don't overtrain, cut the carbs and cardio all the way. It won't be easy. There is a very good dude on youtube with loads of info and diet for getting cut. I will link it for you:

Look beyond all the posing and stuff and there is some great (and free) advice.

    What was your old/current routine.

If you do decide to cut, don't ignore resistance training. You don't have to do it exclusively but it definitely should feature in your training. You don't want lose muscle that you worked very hard to get. This is especially true if you hope to go back to rugby.

As said above, the main source of weight loss will be your diet. Whats your current diet like?

Yea thats true I guess, current diet would be fairly protein heavy probably taking on more carbs than I shud be usually eat 4-5 meals a day. Fairly standard athletes diet (wholegrain breads, cerals, rice and pasta are the carbs I usually take on). You think I should just keep carbs to a minimum?
Old routine involved the 3 major lifts and lots of heavy lifting. Usually a split workout with an additional powerlifting and plyometrics once a week. Gymed prob 3 times a week in season and 4/5 times in the off season.
