Thought I'd make a thread for everyone who has finished their mocks to post their results! My teachers are giving them out one by one so I haven't gotten everything yet, but here's a brief draft.

    Gaeilge - Higher Level - 91%.
    English - Higher Level - Paper 1 - B. (Haven't gotten P2 back yet.)
    Geography - Highter Level - 77%.
CSPE - Higher Level - 70%. (My action project isn't finished yet so he didn't count it in the result.)
    French - Higher Level - 67%.

That's all I've gotten so far. I'm disappointed with my French but in fairness I didn't really work for it at all, so yeah. Probably will be getting my Home Ec and History tomorrow... (: How did everyone else get on? :P

T-Graph HL 45% - Don't really care either (I'll do pass I'd say and again no work):)

still doing mine any spoilers for tech graph or history or geography :D:confused:

Hmmm... We had our first pre exam today. Have to say not as bad as was expected, I had English paper 1 and 2. Paper 1 was easy with the notable exception of the personal writing section, I was shocked at the poor titles for possible essays. I think I may have done ok but it threw me for a while.

Did anyone else have a thing about Cork City as their first question on paper 1? If you did you did the same as me

You should head over here. Loads of spoilers. :) Instead of posting them all in here and messing the place up, they're probably all in that thread.

    Maths HL 57%

    Irish (hl) 82%
Math (hl paper 1 only) 76%
    The rest got sent away:)

    Well done on your results!

I've only started today, and here are what I think/hope I got.

    Maths Paper 1: A
    English Paper 1: B

Business Paper 1 tomorrow. If there were no short questions, I would definitely get an A.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 914 ✭✭✭DarkDusk

Got my English HL result today! 83%... annoyed i didn't get the A though..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 584 ✭✭✭rorrissey

I'm so cross. I thought I did really good in history, then the teacher tells us today that our method of writing person in history things was completely wrong, even though we have been doing it the same since first year. Anyway, apparently it wasn't factual enough, and I got 59%! So pissed off at him, he could've told us that before the exams. :/

Oh and I got 77% in home ec which was surprising because I thought I failed... :P

    What's ESS?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 27,315 CMod ✭✭✭✭spurious

    What's ESS?

It's a subject that can be taken for Junior Cert.. It's a mix of History and Geography and is taught using active learning methodology. It involves doing some historical research on your own and a field study as a class group. Like Leaving Cert. Geog and History, the projects count towards the exam.

The difference between the ESS Higher and Ordinary would be the same as the difference between History Higher and Ordinary, or Geography Higher or Ordinary. Higher would expect a more in-depth knowledge of the subject area and involve higher order questions and language on the paper. More would be expected of a HL candidate than an OL candidate in terms of answers.

    Irish 75%

    Science 71%
    Business 71%
English 68 % (I got 75 but she said she thinks that a C will make me work, ridiculous)
Maths 52 % (Got some awful marks in certain topics, 3 in Trigonometry :|)
    TG 52%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,345 ✭✭✭buyer95

Well I just did maths paper 2 today and I nearly broke down in there.... Paper 1 was ok I think I probably got a c in it but 2, i definitely failed which probably means I failed maths higher level... Whats that coming over the hill? Pass maths, i think so!

Maths 2 was followed by CSPE, which was the easiest test I have ever done, way easier than the Christmas CSPE test, I definitely got an A in that. Only 1 question I didnt know, was something about 41 states being member of the c of e. Which I guessed to be council of Europe

I havent gotten any results yet, but a few subjects are back from correction,
we were supposed to get our religion results today, but apperently we got an awful correcter who undermarked all our exams, meaning that 12 people in my class 'failed', 6 got D's, 2 C's and one person got a B (fingers crossed thats me, I was the only person to get a B in the christmas exams lol)
Gonna get history and spanish back on monday, along with religion once my teacher has recorrected it lol :P

There's no where I can check solutions on the Examcraft maths paper is there? I did awfully, I have the worst maths teacher on the planet. He didn't even go over the paper... I have to correct it by tomorrow and I can't because I have no idea what to do. :(

You're correcting it yourself? Don't bother. Give it to your teacher and tell him to **** off if he won't correct it.

I think he/she meant to fix her errors rather than actually correcting and grading it. I've had to do it for a few papers.

Geog HL 79%~ wish I got an A! Never got anything but A in geog, but there was no A's in the class either

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 720 ✭✭✭Desire to Aspire

I was delighted with Business Paper 2 today. I managed to get the two long accounting questions to balance. I was absolutely delighted! It was the first time I had ever done a full one of each, but, I'm ecstatic.

Ohhh I shouldn't indulge in such showing off but:
    Maths (paper 1 =93%) (paper 2 =87%) Total= 90%
    Science = 86%
    Geography = 95%
History = 100% (but very suspect, I don't think I actually got that)
Music = 83% (but I expect the pre practical to bring me up to an A)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Indiego

got some results back this week, pretty happy :) some of them need to be recorrected because we got some dodgy correctors :S but ah well as long as it doesnt happen in the real thing :)
Spanish - 70% (needs to be corrected, hoping it will bring me up to a B :))
History - 86% (over the moon with this one, considering all the stuff im unsure about came up on the exam)
Maths - 74% (my teacher is going to have a quick look over it to see if he can find me any extra points to bring my grade up to a B, highest in the class by 10% and only 3 people passed in a class of 20 :/ )
Religion - 76% ( needs to be recorrected though, praying for 9% more, someone in the other class got an extra 22% :O)

    :)

Noticed a lot of people, well actually most people in my year were marked down. Probably to make us work harder, like a lot of teachers graded us just 1 or 2 percentages off a B or A in a lot of things.

Ignore that, however your school chooses to grade things doesn't count for a thing in the real world. You got B's in Maths and Spanish, well done. :)

    yeah my school has a really strict marking scheme, 90-100 A, 75-90 B, 60-75 C, 50-60 D, <50 Fail.
    :S
suppose its good motivation,,, :S lol

We only finished ours at the start of last week so we only got one back, that came today, 95% in C.S.P.E the easiest test of all times. Dreading the rest though...

One question, if you get lets say 80% in paper 1 of maths and like 50% in paper 2, do they add your marks from one and too and get the grade, or is it like grade from paper 1 and then 2... That was confusing, but if any1 gets me please reply!

Paper 1 and Paper 2 are marked out of 300 each. so they add your marks from paper 1 eg. 250/300 and your marks from paper 2 eg. 260/300, and add them together so you'd have 510/600 which i think is 85%. That's how they get the grade. :)

    Hey everyone:)
Ok so i have all my results back by now. Hoping to get all As and Bs in the JC, so hoping to bring each of my results up a grade! I just studied the night before for most of the exams. But i did a good bit of revisiom before xmas.

    As: CSPE and English(HL)
Bs: Irish, Geography, Business, History, Religion, Science, Art, French
    C: Maths(HL)

I think i will knuckle down and start studying end of April, maybe May. But knowing me it will prob be a week before the exams!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,601 ✭✭✭Desire.

I've only got a few tests back so far.

    Geography: 93%.
    Maths Paper 1: 91%.
    Irish: 68%.
    French: 68%.

Happy enough so far. I'm a bit disappointed with French, but my letter was marked very hard. At least my two Cs are only 2% off a B, so I guess that's not too bad.

I'm aiming for 5 As now. I have one already. I'm hoping that Maths Paper 2 won't bring me down to a B. I'm expecting As in both History, CSPE, and Business, and possibly Science. Hopefully, I'll get it, but I think I'll get a C in Woodwork (if I'm lucky) and English.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 23 IamStupid..Not

I did all higher level, and didn't study before because I wanted to know how much work I'd have to do and how much I actually knew!
Maths: 50% D (third highest, nobody got an A)
    Religion: 70% The teacher says it's a C and I say a B
    French: 78% B
    Geography: 89% :D
    English: 73%
Irish: 77% (Stupidly happy over that, though I'd failed!)
    History: 83% (2% off an A /:
    Science: 82% B
    Business: 79% B
CSPE: 84% She gave me a B
    Art: 93%

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,248 ✭✭✭Slow Show

I got the rest of mine back earlier in the week so I might as well post here.

    Maths - 84% - B (one percent...:P)
    Geography - 87% - A
    Irish - 76% - B
    Science - 79% - B
    French - 75% - B
    Home Ec - 85% - A
    Business - 81% - B
    English - 88% - A
    History - 96% - A

Pretty happy with those considering I didn't do an awful lot of study. Hoping to keep those A's there (well, Home Ec is gonna come down a lot but I'm not bothered) and push those B's up. Going for maybe 5 A's and the rest B's in the real thing. Oh, and I didn't do a CSPE mock but I don't expect an A in it because our action project is a joke. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,849 ✭✭✭bluejay14

Everyone's results are really good looking and if ye're not happy with them don't worry about it. They're definately nothing to lose sleep about sure ye have plenty of time to improve on any you're not happy with.

From doing the JC last year, I've learned that the mocks are really just a learning curve and nearly everyone does far better in the actual JC. I got mostly B's in the mocks last year but I managed to pull mearly everything up to A and ended up getting 10A's and a B in the real thing.

There's no need to go overboard on the study for the next little while as long as you do it consistently and learn from the mistakes that you've mad in the mocks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,608 ✭✭✭cathalio11

Got 3 As myself. 90% in Religion (never studied), 100% in CSPE (Never studied but I just seemed to know everything in it). 95% in French (Lived in Belgium for a year which influenced that).

Got 82 in Science, 80 in History, 74 in Geography. 50 in Irish, 64% in Maths...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,850 ✭✭✭Indiego

finally got the end of my mock results :)
over the moon, considering i do higher level everything
    I got:
    4 A's - Home ec (94%), Science (86%), History (86%) and Geography (91%)
    5 B's - English (70%), Maths (76%), Religion (76%), Spanish (70%) and CSPE (80%)
    1 C Irish (61%)

My grade might go up in english, religion and spanish, because some peoples papers were corrected badly, so my teachers are checking them over. :)
Hoping to bring all my B's up to A's and my C up to a B :D
