Flags at half mast for Diana's death?

Could someone settle an argument for me please? I was having this discussion with a friend of mine recently about the over reaction to Diana's death in Ireland. I seem to remember flags flying at half - mast in Ireland on the day of her funeral and my friend completely disagreed that this happened.

I seem to remember the flag on Leinster House at half mast at the time.

And I'm usually pretty aware of these types of things as a flag at half mast in work would mean the death of a soldier.

i'm originally from the curragh camp and i recall the flag being at half mast cause as the poster above said, when we see the flag in the curragh at half mast we assume its a soldier

They should flag the flags at half mast for the Queen's visit.

It's OK though because the British would return the gesture if our President was killed. Right?

They tend not to lower their flags for cocaine junkies.

There was some rope with no flag on it, until it was pointed out that Ireland had unfortunately abolished the death penalty.

most people in Ireland didnt even know who Katie French was until she died, Diana was one of the most recognisable women in the world, not exactly a fair comparison.

The stupid bitch ruined a good day up the pub when the Liverpool v Newcastle game was abandoned and the Monday evening beers were ruined when they cancelled the Old Firm game!

The only minutes silence I had that day was for the death of television, nothing on it only her!

Why aren't all our national flags currently at half mast on the recent death of the Green Party?

For the same reason that flags aren't flown at half-mast when a dog gets put down.

I had no idea who she was til I heard someone talking about her that morning, aobut how "tragic" it was.

They made a statue of Diana and put in some park in London after she died.

It represented her life and death.

And how she was totally shallow in both.

So? She was an ex-royal who did a bit of charity work. Should we lower the flag when Angelina Jolie dies?

    No.

But you could always do what the Feds done with Monroe and take a jump on her while she's still lukewarm.
