Do you exercise your neck?

    I've started doing the following

Lying Face Down Plate Neck Resistance:

    lyingfacedownneck2s.jpg

Lying Face Up Plate Neck Resistance:

TBH I normally enjoy working out but these just feel so unrewarding because it doesn't feel like you are doing much and I just start to feel nauseous as if I've spent 20 minutes head banging.

Is there anything better without buying a neck harness?

I have to as I'm always being told to wind it back in.

    What do you mean?

Do you have a protruding head like this?

Mine is pretty bad from bad posture while reading.

I do a lot of wrestling bridges which I find extremely useful. However, you have to be extremely careful with them as the potential for injury is so great.

I also use the exercise shown here at 1min50 into the video. Again, be very careful with it.

Nigel Benn used to use them a lot in his training. He'd hang off the end of a boxing ring with just his neck hanging. The amount of weight he used was unreal!

You can also do exercises with a training partner using a folded towel to resist.

I used to do those pretty regularly, cant imagine theyre great for your vertabrae but I did have a pretty strong neck.
In fairness though if you have bad posture you got to straighten that out-pun intended-before you even consider putting a load on a spine thats not even holding itself up

This is relevant to my interests. I think my neck is a huge weak point and visibly so - it's fairly thin looking relative to the rest of me. I really noticed it when in muay thai training we did clinch drills. People had me completely beat anytime they had my neck - just wasn't strong enough to stay up and it felt wrecked afterward.

The exercises I posted will strengthen your neck but I'm not sure they will fix the problem if you aren't making a conscious effort to improve your posture all day.

It's worth reading up on improving your posture and maybe even finding an instructor of the Alexander technique. It's used by actors/dancers to improve posture and overall body awareness.

Same here.I have aspirations of playing some club rugby later on this year and it cant really do to have a stack of dimes holding my head up going into a tackle or whatever.:D
