Says the max weight is 130kg. As a 90kg male that only leaves me 40kg to use and feel safe.

So no good for me. I'd say depends on your weight and goals.

    Unkel,

As the lads have said best to get a proper solid bench.

    130kg max weight is terrible.

If it were me I would opt for a second hand refurbished commercial grade bench.

The bench looks quite small - as in it may not support your head when on it which is a gripe of mine.

I'm sure Mick over at http://www.irish-lifting.com/ could help you out.

I'm nearly 6'2 and over 90kg myself and a bench that wouldn't support my head is useless :)

I'll give it a miss so, thanks for the help, lads!

a quick thread hijack here...what do ye think of the chin up bar?

    http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20110224.p.Multifunctional_Chin_Up_Bar

There are more pics in the paper leaflet and it looks fairly similar to the ones for sale at irish lifintg, allbeit a little different.
For €16.99 you can't go wrong...or can you? Anyone have one of these?

While IMO the Lidl one would be adaquate, I have the one from Irish Lifting and the it provides much better (as in more) options for hand positions than the version that Lidl sell. Personally I would go for the Slightly more expensive version from irish Lifting.

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation what to ever to Irish Lifting. I just support Irish companies where possible ;)

My mate has the chin up bar. I've used it a couple of times and it's fine...

As you said, for €16.99 you can't go too far wrong

Yeah i'm all for supporting irish companies, I'm prob only gonna use it for chins and pullups, seems to have a wide enough grip on it too. Might hang a set of rings from it will see how sturdy it is..

As I said the IL just has more options for hand positions though it is more expensive.

Should have no problem with the rings. I hang a TRX off of mine and do inverted rows with feet raised and push-ups again with feet raised and have no issues.

cool i have a TRX as well so it'd be handy for that too

What sort of weight are you lifting? You want absolute confidence in your bench!

Nothing much, just doing some free standing upper body exercises with two dumbbells, about 12kg each atm. I would like a bench though that would enable me to do bench presses as well as abs exercises, so a multifunctional bench would be ideal. Oh yeah, my budget is as near to zero as possible :)

Looking for a freebie or unloved bench then? I'm sure there are some websites out there that might help - being genuine here!

Perhaps when you shift the Rover 75 you could re-invest some of the cash in a bench?:D

A bench would defo allow you to do more exercises and get more out of your training etc.
