Cover Up? Yes or No

So the other day at the till in Tesco this woman is returning some items to Customer Service. She's having a rather loud conversation with, what I gather, is an old neighbour and let's slip her age in somewhere mid 50s. This woman is dressed like she's 16 with heavily caked make up and a leather jacket and tight skinny jeans. She's doesn't look old for her age but you get the feeling she's making a real effort to disguise the number from your average everyman.

Anyway, the items she's returning (due to them being the wrong colour) are several black thongs, G Strings and bikini tops - mostly swimwear for holiday but a few (still on hangar) pieces of lingerie. These, as the assistant checks and rings them through, are pretty revealing pieces of underwear. Next thing you know, she drops her card, bends over to pick it up and the line is flashed with the sight of her G String.....

So, my question, at this woman's age should she be wearing this kind of revealing underwear and G String. Nothing wrong with looking sexy at any age but isn't this a bit much?

Mutton dressed as lamb. Some people just don't know when to stop acting like they're still a child. Old women trying to look young all end up looking like Liz McDonald.

they were accepting thongs as returns??

i thought all shops had a "no exchange" policy on thongs/knickers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,706 ✭✭✭fonecrusher1

You looked at her G-string didn't you? You looked & thought "i'd take a peace of that action, oh yes i'd ravage her in heartbeat"

    Disgusting.

Now your angry at having been turned on by this old woman, you hate yourself for constantly thinking about her & so naturally you want to confirm with us that you were utterly repulsed even though its quite quite the opposite.

    Just ask her out.

    Maybe returning Valentine's Day gifts!

I think that most women who wear thongs do not have the bum for them.

Otherwise its a trip to the hospital for corrective treatment. Lashings of shock therapy till she starts acting like a lady again.

Still no, I think the only things you can never return are knickers or earrings for pierced ears. Unless they're defective or something, although I've personally never heard of any cases of defective knickers :D

Whatever she wears is up to her as long as she doesn't have it on show to everyone.

They are not defective...quit looking in the crotchless section :)

So what you're saying OP is that Tesco are covering up the fact that you can actually return underwear???....or have I missed the point?

Those French knickers or girlie boxers are where it's at any way.

Did you take her up the meat aisle?

Did you do an express checkout of her ass?

Did you get her to cleanup a spillage?

Did you give her some clubcard points eh eh?

    Did you ...

Eh... she shouldn't have to be policed on her knicker choices. :)

Hate that expression so much - although it seems to be more women than men who are guilty of it. When Carol Vorderman got sexified in her 40s after years of looking dowdy, it was mostly bitter auld bitches who had a problem with it. She looks great - what ****ing difference does the date on her birth cert make?
Liz McDonald type clothes, e.g. a tight red PVC skirt with the g-string popping out at the top, and a leopard-print tight top, would look tacky on a woman of any age (not that I'd care if a woman wore them) but not all revealing clothes are tacky.
If you've the figure and skimpy clothing looks good on you, don't see why your age should stop you wearing it. A short black skirt and a black top with a plunging neckline would look a lot better on a 45-year-old with a great figure than on a chubby 18-year-old. It would also look kinda "old" on an 18-year-old.

I don't think g-strings look sexy on anyone, I think they're awful. Whatever floats her boat though. And as others have said, you can't return underwear.

You are as young as you feel. Fair play to her to dress how she likes and not fall into the category of "Frumpy".

But, if you want to wear smalls...keep them to yourself there is nothing worse than getting an eyeful of gstring, throng, lacy knickers or arse crack at ANY TIME!:mad:

    Wow @ this thread.
Age is a number, nothing more. No way in hell should anyone behave a certain way just because of their age. Do what makes you happy and f*ck the judgmental haters.

I think the actual age is irelevant - if she looked good in what she was wearing then fine, if she looked like an old slapper then yes, it is too much. It's not necessarily what you are wearing worn but how you wear it.

OP, before you heard her age what did was your opinion of this ladies style?

    Oh yeah, POGTFO! :D

    whitney dressed as britney

Some people don't see the primary purpose of getting dressed as being to become physically appealing or attractive to others. Even if most people did think she looked awful, why should she change? Why do people feel that others' self-expression should be confined within the limits of what they find nice?

I don't think I have ever bought underwear with that sticker on... Bikini bottoms, yeah sure, but not underwear. Also, most stores, Penneys, M&S etc., do have signs saying that there is a no exchange policy on lingerie.

No she should dress to suit her age, Nothing worse than mutton dressed as lamb, by all means she should show off her figure but in a more age appropriate manner.
