Right, I've done a brief mapping of the cart lines I know off (pic removed, the links at the end of the post).

Now hopefully the legend will explain most of it. The yellow circle in the centre is what I would suggest as the central hub for the map. It's a perfect location, there's already lines coming from it, it's near the spawn point and it should be easy enough to send new lines out in all directions.

Just a quick note regarding naming lines. I just gave them the first thing that came to my head and described them. I'm not being narcissistic by naming a line after myself, it just that it goes to stuff I built, so that's what peopel can expect to find. Same goes for the Quazzie line. Once we finish the system we can vote on names for everything.

The Station line consists of two lines: the Out-Bound, to the stadium and the In-Bound, from the stadium. The Out-Bound line circles around and connects to the In-Bound line a little further in, so the start of the In-Bound line may be removed if people feel the need. (If you don't know what I'm on about, take a trip up to the stadium and you'll see how the line splits up.

Then the Humanji Line goes from the stadium to my ship and to the Millenium Falcon. At the ship, there's a split off for the Quazzie Line that goes to his maze. Both these lines are two way (ie you can use them from either direction).

The Castle Line goes through the village, past the spleef (I don't actually know what that is) and up to the castle. It's a circular line that leads back to the central hub. I don't know if it's just me, but I think it needs a booster leading away from the castle as I just slow to a stop before getting to the wall.

I don't really know where the Mall Line goes. If who ever built it can tell me, it'd help. I'm not sure if it's just to someones building, or if there's something I'm missing. You can see that there's two Mall Lines. One starts up in a mountain and joins the other on, leading back to the mall. But there seems to be no way to get up the mountain, other than to climb.

And you'll also see proposed lines on the map. I suggest that we have four main lines leading away from the hub and a circle line going around the town. We already have the makings of three of those lines and so a Northern Line would need to be built.

The Southern Line would pretty much be the Stadium Line. There isn't much else further south at the moment. But when there is, then we can just adjust it.

The Castle line can extend past the airport over to the other castle.

We can either use the Mall line or Build a new one to head over Eastwards to the weird circular thingy there.

And as I said before, a new line would have to be laid down for the Northern section.

Where these lines stop depend on what you all want. I just put down stations where they could go. I don't know what projects are out there and if they are being finished or abandoned. But when the outer hubs are set, then we ling them all with a circle line that goes all the way around the town.

I know that some people have some constructions further out than that, but they would be better off building their own lines off of hubs, rather than us expanding the whole thing to fit them in. It would jsut make the whole project too unmanageable.

I think that's about it. If I remember anything else, I'll add it in.

    So, what do ye think?

    its massive

I think its a great idea. Just for reference, the proposed stations would later become hubs in their own right because of expansion yeah?

There's 5/6 underground metro lines too btw, but thats a different system altogether :pac:

Done and done. I tried resizing it, but it was having none of it.

Well there has to be room for the stations to become hubs. It's just something we have to be aware of.

And I know about the metro lines, I've just no idea where they are. :D It should be a problem to hook them up, even if it's by a ladder going down to them

Looks good, you've put a lot of work into that!

The only thing is the dark red line goes either on top or straight through the mountain I am clearing at grid ref M4, I suppose the line could go under it though :D

The mall line does actually stop before my house, but i built onto it so i could minecart straight from my house to the mall and onwards. It's 1 track from my house to the mall, and 2 tracks from the mall to the station. And I put the track up the mountain for my own use as a rollercoaster :P

I'd be more than happy to add a full second track and extend it to the weird circle thing east?

I like the sound of the train system. It's a good idea.
Care for the use of my services for the stations?;)

Great work humanji. There's some track running along by my bit coming straight from the Airport going down to that big castle in the bottom left corner of the map which should help out too.

If we had a forum Kharn, we could start a thread on how the boosters and track switches etc work so you 'd know :P:P

That'd be the track out to my place :)

If you don't mind too much Humanji I might try my track switch, just to see if it can be done more than anything else, but I'll only keep it to the rail track that I've built to and from my island.

Right, I think I've pretty much finished most of the central station. So without further a do, I give you Tallon Station:

    148712.jpg

The more observant of you will notice that the text is slightly skewed. Slight miscalculation there. So sorry.

I've made a few changes to the layout, so hopefully no one has a problem with that. You'll see from the front that it's split into two sections:

    148710.jpg

Arrivals is on the ground floor, and this is where you'll arrive into the station from other stations. And Departures is upstairs. I split the two to kind of make it idiot proof and easily understood. :D

On the second floor you'll find the Line Guide, which will tell you where each line goes, where it passes and any lines you can transfer to:

    148711.jpg

It's a bit sparse on details, so feel free to fill it in yourselves. Just try and keep it all looking the same. (You can't edit a sign, so in order to change one you have to smash it and then place it up again). At the moment there's only three lines running and I've colour coded them because I'm a bit OCD like that. The Northern line has a platform, but the track just leads out a window. I'll try and build it over the weekend.

And finally, each platform is pretty similar. Each is denoted by a colour and should have a sign saying what line it is. There should also be a chest or two beside each one with minecarts in them, if you need one.

I've also changed around a couple of the lines, in particular, the Castle line. That did start off going in the same way as the Stadium line. But I now have it going out the back, where it then goes underground and joins the original track. The return line did go by the cathedral and around the square, but I shortened that to go directly into the station.

So, have a play around with it and tell me any problems or changes that need to be made.

    Hey humanji,
Would you mind if i worked on a cart dispenser in the stations?
At the moment ive nothing to do on the server at the moment.
Some of the lads have already seen my system and thought it was amazing.
If you havent seen it, ive a video of it

Ive updated it since the video mainly just the insides.
If you want to check it out it shows you how to get there in the video.

That would be pretty cool if you could. Will having a continuously moving cart cause problems for the server? I read somewhere before that some mechanisms can cause problems.

But if you can do it, it'd be sweet. Feel free to move the whole station around. It's not mine, so I don't mind. :D

I'll give it a fiddle next time I'm on. I still can't believe I did that though. And I remember the exact moment when I was doing it. The Simpsons were on, and Mr Burns had just come home to find the Simpons were living in his house. Stupid tv. It's caused me nothing but trouble! :D

The Stadium stop is borked, doesn't stop at all. Guess all the lines have to be tested :P I'm gonna do a new carto up later

Well holy ****. The server looks fantastic atm, must go in and have proper look.

Kudos fellas (girls ?), great work

Whoever has the tower in E7 now has a direct link into town and a branching track from mine (though it'll probably require a few practice runs first before you can hit the button).

Also, the Tower Line now has a transfer to The Floating Island.

Perhaps the initial spawn point should be set at the station since it has become a quick way to get anywhere?

Spawn is in the Cathedral, right beside the station

Right. I'm gonna extend the mall line past my house further east, to that round building thing(not the double helix). I've also commandeered 1 shop in the mall to serve as a train station, and I'll be ammending the track from the mall to my house (near the double helix) so you can have carts going different directions at the same time. It'll probably take me a while, so be patient :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

If you can, try and get the line to go by the Parthenon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭giggsy664

This is a rough draft of what I'm gonna do. Everyone cool with this?

Looks good, but who owns the messed up tracks at the left side of the cathedral?

They're just in random places in mid air, would like if they were discreet at ground level

Those were mine, they're gone now. I had them there as a junction to join the old line from the station all the way to the other side of church.
