Great price, but NOT suitable for Irish DTT. Cracking tv, though. I got the 32in version after Christmas for €279, which I thought was a very good price then. It is a full HD tv.Great for anyone with a HD box.

Current selling price valid until 01/03/2011

Safe enough, assuming they don't sell out.

Great value for a 40 inch, went to reserve it in Waterford but none left so just got the last one in Wexford.

There is also a Bush 24" Full HD for €138.99 but there seems to be little or no stock around, so not worthy of a new thread. http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5296503.htm

Allegedly, this Evotel records to USB. Need to do some research, but how good is TV recording to USB, would it be good quality and can it be scheduled?

And oh, if anyone's looking to reserve, there's one left in Argos Drogheda right now.

That 24" is LED so should be super slim as well, how does a 24" LED compare to LCD?

    I miss argos stock checker.

I've one reserved for tullamore, im hoping to pick it up tomorrow. Question... will this fit in a car? Small enough car (seat ibizia) but could have the back seats down.

YOu would be surprised what you would get into any hatch with all the seats properly down. I would imagine it would be any problem

You'll be fine with the back seats down, I picked up a 40" Sony at Christmas and it just fitted into the boot of a Toyota Avensis saloon, only just though.

Buying any TV with only 1 HDMI slot and no Irish SaorView in it is just short sighted. Its a 2007 tv in 2011, pay the money and you wont replace it half as quick as u will that yolk. 50hz is poor too, So what is 40 inch, nothing else going for it

Well thanks. Between the stares I received lugging it down Grafton steet, to the stairs that I struggled up to the apartment, now you tell me it is crap!!!

Picked one up in Tullamore tonight. Had to take it out of box to fit in car (Mondeo). Delighted with it. Attached my wd passport to it and it plays .avi movies perfectly. The sound is pretty decent too, which is something i was worried about. Overall delighted with it. Its replaced a 19inch monitor in the bedroom though so its like having a cinema screen in there now :D. If anyone is having doubts about it id say go for it. Im not a major techy or anything but so far i really cant complain about the set at all....

no i meant i was in the store collected one, it looked opened, i asked for another told none left, went home and found the tv was broken, rang the store, they checked and said "there in none in stock here"

this happened at 8pm, so if someone reserved it and collects it tomorrow, can they tell me please as i would be quite annoyed to find out i've been lied out.

How does it look with the xbox? I would be slightly worried about the contrast and refresh ratio for the likes of MW2?

Just reserved the last one in Limerick and got the text message to say it was reserved, how reliable is it? Will it definately be there when I go to collect tomorrow?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 DublinKopite

So once I again it seems to be out of stock completely everywhere!

So would anyone know, since the deal lasts until the 1st of March according to the site, if they'd be getting more stock in before the deal runs out?
Or would I just have to get really lucky with one of you lovely boardsies offering me a reservation code anywhere in the Dublin area? :D

Black Ops looks ridic good on it.

Hmmm... not wanting to spoil the party, but 'buy cheap, buy twice'?! I agree that for a 40 inch full HD it's good value but who are Evotel? And as another poster mentioned, I'd be concerned about the picture quality (contrast etc.) compared to the likes of more well known brands. I've seen some really cheap 'SandStorm' (or some name like this) HD TV's in Curry's but the brightness/contrast is crap when you look at neighboring brands on display. But it you're not fussed about these kinds of things and willing to take a chance on its reliability, then why not...
