Supressor or not?

Just curious as to how many of you use silenced weapons?

In MW2 silencing the TAR and UMP made them easier to use in my opinion but these were the only ones I really used silencers on.

In Blops I can't seem to get any benefit from the silencer. The Famas and AUG are ok but I just think the damage drop off on range outweighs the not showing up on radar.

Do you usually use silenced weapons? 52 votes

Just with the famas other than that no.

Afaik . The galil and spas have no damage drop off with the suppressor .

I know for sure its the case with the spas, not so sure about the galil

use it sometimes on my "leggers" class with the SMG - only on tight maps, flank and then roger them from behind :D

Extended mags all the way, unless it's on the galil / famas / spas.

No to supressor, not worth the trade off in distance, and power

I used to use Ghost and suppressor religiously (awaits boos and hisses) but from about 3 prestiges ago when I used the default MP5K class and found that it was quite good without a suppressor(plus I liked the sound). So basically now I generally have 2 classes for each gun. e.g. Galil, Supressor, Ghost. and Galil, Extended Mag, Flak Jacket and likewise with the MP5K. Mostly use the flak jacket ones but will still use the suppressor fairly regularly.

Galill mainly and the odd time on the uzi and Spas.

    Just with Galil and Famas.

My Stealth/Anti air class is a Galil with suppressor... but I don't use it that often. Normally I just switch to it when required.

I have recently started using the Famas silenced with lightweight and marathon. Good old craic.... but don't use it enough to warrant saying yes to above, so I'll say no.

Often use it. For some of the larger maps I use it on the AK47 which along with the famas is probably the most versatile assault rifle. Like the commando but with a silencer i just seem to do rubbish with it. Use it on the AK74 on levels like nuketown and summit.

Can see why the Galil is popular enough choice for a silencer like it good range means what it loses from the silencer makes little or no difference to the damage unless ya try going sniping with the thing.

Forgot to say I don't use supressors, except for the rare time the SPAS-12 comes out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,278 ✭✭✭x43r0

I use it with on the Ak47 with Hardline, SOH and marathon

Great for flanking at the beginning of a match and racking up a quick killstreak before the enemy knows whats going on

Always found the Galil to be great with a supressor

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,340 ✭✭✭yimrsg

I think only my domination class (ak47 w/ dual mags) & my sniper class are unsilenced as I tend to get attention with them even if they were silenced.

I've used silencers on pretty much all of my guns bar LMGs and if there were silencers on them I'd probably use them to. I think you get a higher k/d ratio than unsilenced (saying that I got my highest k/d ratio using my domination class).

The ak47 & commando are very good silenced whilst the Kiparis is a beast with a silencer. Chews through the ammo though. Also the m16 at long range is good with one too, though it needs a sight.

Extended mags or dual mags for every class except my anti-air class.

I use Silenced Galil and the Strella as secondary.

    Perks:

Ghost Pro, SOH Pro and Ninja Pro.

Maybe it's just me, but like the UMP in MW2 and P90 in COD4 when you attach the suppressor onto the galill it's feels like there is less recoil being produced. I could be wrong but I think I've seen that mentioned a few Black Ops gun comparison vids too.

Good point but it might just be the feel as you say more than anything since you dont have the sound of gunfire it feels more controlled. On the commando I actually notice the weird side recoil more but different gun altogether. Never got into using the galil (dont like the look and reloading) except in zombies where its class!

Use an AA-12 suppressed the odd time, apart from that its a trusty M4 with plain 'oul iron sights :)

I normally run with either extended or Dual mags. Both have advantages but in the main I prefer the extra ammo and faster reload to the larger clip.

I do run silencer on a few classes, and normally with either the FAMAS or the Commando. The Famas has such a high rate of fire, that the damage drop-off isn't such a drag. The commando is like the ACR so accuracy trades off with damage as well. :)

I used to use the famas with silencer too but after reading the comments here about the Gallil I swapped it and find it works really well :) For some reason my beloved AK47 turns to poo in my hands when I put a supressor on it:confused:. Thanks for all the replies it looks pretty much split down the middle!

I forgot to vote myself so I have now pushed the "Nos" ahead

The Galil is a beast of a gun in slower paced games. I run close to a 2 k/d with it. Not as useful in frantic games of DOM, HQ etc, due to it's fire rate. But in TDM and Search and maybe CTF it is close to unbeatable imho.

Also, if you hook up Extended mags to the Galil I think it gives you a 50 bullet clip.

i dont mind any attachemnts really as long as they serve a purpose . dual mags quicker reloads suppressors keep you off the maps etc its the sights that bother me its a waste of attachment space since the gun doesnt actually shoot better or worse without it

Have used the silencer on sniper class, but found unless you hit the head, the target would survive at long distances. Don't usually use it on my runner class, as I want a quick kill, not a quite kill.

I only use the silencer with the Famas in Black ops, it just doesn't work good with any other weapon than that.

Don't forget that you get an additional 50% more ammo when you run with Dual Mags. So for the Famas you get 120 rounds normally, but 180 with Dual Mags. To me, this is nearly more important that the quicker reload, as I normally use SOH anyway. It also means I rarely need to use Scavenger in BOps, where I used it a lot in MW2.

Siliencers are for pussys. I tried it with the galil and famas and they're just so much nicer without. Besides the fact that i hate using guns without extended mags, i like to make myself seen anyway. Easier to get groups of players coming at you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 767 ✭✭✭claiva

My "Fun" class at the moment consists of a Silenced Spas + Ghost, SOH & Marathon.
    Great craic.
Especially in the smaller maps like Nuketown etc.

Other than that, I'm not really that bothered with the Silencer.

A lot of people seem to like the extended mags. I have a nervous twitch that makes me automatically reload anyway but will nearly always run Dual Mags and SOH pro. Just find Dual Mags much more useful with quicker reloads and more bullets.

    Bah, and what is Ghost?

I agree re: the Famas. I don't feel comfortable with the suppressor on it, I know many people here love it but I cannot use it whatsoever). Dual mags is the way to go with that gun for sure.

Opposite case with the Galill for me as I mentioned before.

I have 2 silencer classes, one ghost(Galill that I use for anti air support) and one for rushing, usually for my MPL and sometimes Spas(I think it looks great with a no camo, silenced MPL with my Pepsi logo :pac:)

Tried out the FAL with a silencer last prestige on maps like Jungle and Array, wasn't half bad but for the damn jamming of the gun

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

    Bah, and what is Ghost?

    Eh ? :D

Im not really a big fan with the galil in the first place anyway. Famas is best with extended mags, at least for my gamestyle. Although for people that have big killstreaks and play more defensively then dual mags are probably the best attachment with most of the guns(I really think it needs nerfing tbh, its basically got 2 half perks in one attachment... slight of hand and the pro version of scavenger). Running UAV/Counter or CP/AC i would say it benifits the team alot more if someone goes say 40-10 than 40-1 (Which are the type of scores you'll get using dual mags, at least from my POV they are), so the extra ammo will often be useless.

For me.. extended mags are the sh!t. Siliencers are poo.

Only use a suppressor on a spas and occasionally the galil. There are a lot of attachments which are just too important to let go for a suppressor, eg extended mags, dual mags etc

I was running with the Galil and Extended mags for a few games last night. Dear god those 50 rounds are sweet. Loads of multikills with it, where with something like the Famas I'd be dead after having to reload. :)

On the side topic of extended mags, I prestiged last night and had the usual crappy selection to start with. One of the first things I did was bought extended mags for the MP5K... there's something satisfying with being able to keep the trigger pressed and getting a couple of double/triple-kill sprays in circumstances where you would otherwise run out and have to reload!

Yeah, Extended mags on the MP5 make it a bearable gun. But also worth checking out Rapid Fire. As long as you don't just hold down the trigger too long, you'll find it nice. :)

It's just the fact you commented that, Siliencers are for pussys. Do you not consider Ghost to be in the same light then? Both go usually hand in hand IMO for the most part.

I use a suppressor on the Galill and usually the MPL and Sprectre. Occasionally the Spas in the mid prestiges, though personally I like it without the suppressor. But overall it's extremely rare to use it on anything other than the Galill. I run Scavenger on a good few classes and on those I use warlord or steady aim so Dual Mags more than do their job.

Extended mags is an occasional attachment for the most part, except for very early on when lashing it on the MP5 for my runner class and sometimes the 2 SMG's I mentioned above.

I'm just a creature of habit when it comes to attachments

Assault rifles - Dual mags ( do use RDS as well on AUG/Famas)
    SMGs - Grip
    Sniper Rifles- No attachment
LMGs - Really need to try these out. I have 10K kills and maybe 20 of these are with LMGs
    Shotguns - Just no

M60 aside, you're not missing out on anything. Extended Mags is the way to go if you're can consistently get more than a 5 killstreak.

I dont like the perk in general, but i would rather they not only remove it but also UAV (Said this before). And have the radar work much more like it does in CSS. I just think its far too powerful to be a 3 killstreak, even tho it can be countered/shotdown. Most people dont care and just leave it up (Me included)... and hello !! Free wallhack. You only need 1 person running UAV/Counter UAV and you'll pretty much garenteed to **** the other team up, most of the time i'll have 2 or 3 UAVs to waste at the end of a game. Blackbird is 10 times worse, one blackbird for a good team will basically result in 6 people getting a free 3+ killstreak.

The thing is most people on here play in a group most of the time, but im sure they know how frustrating it is playing against a group of players when your on your own.... "UAV INCOMING" "UAV INCOMING" "BLACKBIRD INCOMING" "CHOPPER DOGS AND A BIG **** YOU INCOMING".
