I've taken to doing this by looking first at the user name and then imagining what they sound like. Anyone else at this?

    Very quiet, I would imagine.

    Seeing as he's dead.

Yes all the time, and im fairly accurate at it too assuming everybody here has a dull, thick, Dundalk accent...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,739 ✭✭✭✭minidazzler

Yeah, there are some posters I read the posts of and think "he would definitely sound like this"

Like Makikomi, I think he probably has a gruff north dublin accent, very ballymun, but not in a durty scummer way, and I am pretty sure I would be right though I have never heard him speak.

Then there is Liah who I always read her posts with a neutral accent in my head, but I think she would probably have a stronger canadian one than I imagine, so I am probably wrong the way I read it.

I read all posts of posters I know in an imagined accent, I would say I could be right about 40% of the time.

I tend to read your posts in the voice of Mongo from Blazing Saddles.

Yeah, for a lot of them particularly those who use  twice a sentence, I imagine to be taking out their ass, so they have a kind of echo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,345 ✭✭✭landsleaving

I base it entirely on avatars, so basically:

    KeithM89 sounds iike Jack Bauer

    Pauleta sounds like Fat Tony

    OutlawPete sounds like Springsteen

    We''lallhavetea is a
    sex
    kitten

And Starbelgrade sounds like a man cackling in glee every time his posts are thanked.

Hmm, describing it is hard...I actually can't, but an inner city accent, probably deeper than most.

I always imagine you as having a really thick Nigerian accent, cos I used to work with a Nigerian lady called Pauletta.......:D:o

Always imagine Biggins as having a really posh, clipped English accent just like James Bond

What's it called I wonder. Imagining someones voice? It's a bit like an optical illusion only with voices and stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,345 ✭✭✭landsleaving

    Sonic illusion?

If nothing else, you've a great band name right there.

I agree, I base the posters mostly on their avatars, if any user changes their avatars it gets all out of whack..

If I see a pic of them it also messes up the alignment of my boards..

We'll all have tea - always makes me think of Mrs. Doyle from Father Ted.. sorry :o

KeithM89 makes me think that he is saying his name is Keith and then has to think (em...) about a year and goes for 89... sorry keith :o

I can't think of any others at the moment but that's the way my funny brain works ..

I do this for some posters:

Orourkeda: i imagine him with a gruff Northsider accent like myself (i relate to you man) without a shimmer of awkwardness to his voice.

OutlawPete: I always imagine the voice of an American from the deep south, runnin from the law.

Dudess: A clinical, corporate voice; not to be reckoned with.

    We'llallhavetea: A bubbly enthusiastic voice.

    Slashermcgurk: See orourkeda.

Brummytom: Something along the lines of Oliver, "please sir, can I have some more
    toilet roll for fapping into
    "

Ok, well if anyone is wondering..

I'm told I sound like Steve Collins (the boxer) and look like either Raoule Moate (the UK Hide & Seek champion 2010) or Brock Lesnar.

So there ya go, in case anyone is wondering.

I'm originally from Ballyfermot but don't really sound as rough as some out that direction. I might have spent 10 years in Kerry but don't even have a hint of a Kerry accent on me!

Strictly speaking she holds the Portugese title, but you'd have to confirm that with Snyper.

Don't get sucked into it man. It'll shatter all your illusions about people. Either that or you'll just end up fudding the night away.

I was told that I come across like a horny 13 year old boy in my posts. Whoops.

I break it down like this:

    Men either sound like:

    A neutral Dub
    A complete bogger

    The girls either sound like:
    Sweet girlie girls
    Mams
    Professional corporate proper women.

I had about 4 b*tches in The Ladies Lounge try and convince me that I was in fact, a teenage boy. They found the name quite manish.

PM'd a few of them a few photos of my righteous vag and it shut them up fairly lively. She's a beaut.
