DIT is upgrading its email system?

Did you hear that DIT is upgrading its email system? The upgrade is starting at 9.30pm on tonight (14th February). All email will be delivered to the new system from 9.30pm tonight and mailboxes will be copied to the new system overnight and made available at some time tomorrow (Tuesday 15th)

Anyone who's not using mydit.ie to access their email will need to change their client to allow for new security settings. Settings are as follows:

Incoming Server: imap.dit.ie or pop.dit.ie SSL Ports: 993 (for IMAPS) and 995 (for POPS) Outgoing Server: smtp.dit.ie (username/password authentication required)

when i try to log in it says my Username or Password is incorrect. They aren't. Anyone else having this problem?

FFS I have stuff in there I need will it be coming back? didn't think I'd have to save everything but it seems that there's none of my old email there and I really need it. This is crazy. Crazy and ridiculous.

just go to http://mypassword.dit.ie and change it

Dont worry , most student mailboxs moved over to the new storage last night. All students will be moved by this afternoon

Why not just set all your e-mail to send to your personal account, that's what I'd do. A bit late now I suppose .

same prob me in chrome. just keep high lighting the url at the top of page and press enter, you need to do it a few times, it will eventually load through the different stages.

Mines been working fine since I first checked a couple of hours after the upgrade, set up forwarding to my gmail straight away and tested it, worked fine. No problems with certificates on any browser.

Was having problems with setting up forwarding to gmail last night, saying I had incorrect password and timing out. Worked fine just now though. They must have feed the hamsters.

I cant change my password for some reason, the password got changed to my date of birth when they got the new email system and i tried changed the password in the password manager and it changes fine there but still doesnt change my email password!

Does anyone know how to get this working with windows live mail? I had it set up with the imap settings already but its not working. I've changed the port numbers and still nothing! Any ideas?

Thanks for the information everyone, but has anyone got information for the Gmail settings.
I'm having problems setting up SMTP to send mail, and I'd rather use the real thing than use Gmail to send it.

I'm getting:

"Authentication failed. Please check your username/password.
[Server response: Remote server does not support TLS code(500) ]"

Nah, a good job would have been doing it at a weekend, review week, easter or at some other time when it doesn't have the potential to cause havoc!

Hi, I'm still having trouble forwarding email from my DIT accound to gmail.

Despite the changes to DIT mail its still vastly inferior to gamil, so I really wich I could figure out how to get my mails form the college into my gmail inbox again.

Anyone able to help me here?

Go to DIT mail, if you go into options-local account then tick the box for mail forwarding and enter your email you want it to go to in the box.

I still cannot log into my mail. WTF?

And because of this I've come to class when it was cancelled and apparently also have a mail containing details of an assignment due for next week, although I can't confirm as I can't access.

Try different browsers/computers, make sure you clear your internet cache. If it still doesn't work screenshot everything and complain, I think the email techs are at the bottom floor of aungier street, turn right when entering the main door, go to the end corridor down there somewhere

what about the fact that half of the students dont have the access to their email anymore due to the fact that it wont work on their browser.

Tbh this looks more like a downgrade than upgrade

half of my year cant access and friends i know cant access their emails.

Their either getting errors or the email freezes while loading on either stage.

It freezes for me on loading contacts list

So it would be correct to say that half of the students in your class can't access there e-mail (fact), as opposed to your earlier post that suggest that half the student population circa 11,000 people can't access there e-mail (opinion)? See the difference. I wouldn't go throwing "facts" around like they were magic beans
