It seemed to go ok for me but i didnt get any email confirmation? You usually do for these things or at least i did when i pre ordered in rainbows. I'd say the site is just full of traffic so maybe if you try later it'll be grand. There are quite a few Radiohead fans out there after all!

I cant wait for Saturday!!! I hope this make it onto the album. Its just stunning

Never has an announcement on Facebook made me so happy! Also, never has going on Facebook in the middle of a lecture been so benificial. Can't wait for the Saturday.

Also, has anyone tried to order the album using a Laser card? I can't understand why it wouldn't work. :-/

Ya but got it to work eventually. Just make sure you only the order one copy, i very nearly ordered 3 on account of having clicked the button a few times in earlier failed attempts

surprised you didnt jump up in the middle of it and shout "YAHOO"

I had to excuse myself from my desk in work, walked into the empty canteen and yelled "GET IN YOU FCUKIN BEAUTY"
    :)

Yeah, I know how you feel. I had to go into the toilet cubicle, take off my top, lather myself in goose and masturbate frantically while moaning Thom's name…

I would f*cking despise if that happened because Oxegen is the pits. Thankfully I don't reckon there'd be much chance of it.

Trying to order now but Ireland isn't in the list of countries.

I could choose UK but then again there is an option for Northern Ireland.

    EDIT: found it now! :D

You mean as your postcode or just as your address with no postcode? I live in Kildare. It won't let me go any futher without entering some sort of postcode

I'm pretty sure that's the problem anyway. Address and card details seem fine as far as I can tell.

Anyone know when the CD format will be released? Never knew this was being released, a pleasant surprise :)

Ah, another special time coming up :)

I'll be placing my order in the morning. 2x10" LP, CD, download and all the fancy packaging for £30 is a steal!

Great news! Ill have to order the newspaper version.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

Screw it, I know it's expensive but I want that newspaper version! :D

Quick question though: what's the difference between the MP3 and WAV versions? WAV is £3 dearer but I thought MP3 was better/more modern? :o (I feel like an idiot asking this, but I genuinely don't know the difference!)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭Battleflag

better quality file formats, unless your an audiophile you won't really know the difference especially since the mp3 is being released in 320kbps (the highest bitrate)

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 22,693 CMod ✭✭✭✭Sad Professor

Yeah, and if you are getting the newspaper version there's no need anyway as it includes the album on CD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 260 ✭✭Kid V

This week is going painfully slow. I hope they send out the mp3s at 00.01am on Saturday.

    Cool, thanks for that.

Ordered the MP3 Newspaper one; it may have cost £30 but at least I saved £3 by not getting the WAV one.

any point in getting the newspaper edition if i don't have a record player?

also when are we likely to see the reviews?

not too bothered about the artwork (radiohead are well into that kind of stuff, just focus on the music lads) so may go for the mp3 version

surely they'll leak it to a few reviewers before then

    Don't think so...

One of the main reasons they are releasing it themselves on the internet is to avoid the album leaking like has happened to a few of their previous albums

Collectability? I don't have a record player either, but I got the Discbox last time and it's nice to have if you are a fan.
also when are we likely to see the reviews?
Afaik everyone (critics included) will get it at the same time. This is to avoid it getting leaked weeks in advance as happened with their previous albums.

EDIT: exioot beat me to it. :D

They didnt last time either, same thing now, everyone hears it at the same time,i love that idea, they dont need reviews for the hype anyway, this way works for them big time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

€36 for a double 10", CD, download (alright, the only thing you're gaining there is time) and all the artwork isn't that expensive at all!

Might be a lot of money, comparatively, but it's cheap as far as I'm concerned!

Anybody know if they accept Irish Laser Cards as payment method???

I just see UK Maestro option and I don't have a credit card :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,075 ✭✭✭IamtheWalrus

Haven't heard much speculation on sound yet..

I saw Atoms for Peace last year and the new stuff Thom played was on acoustic guitar, maybe the album will be folky.

I expect a similar sound to In Rainbows but softer and maybe more ambient. I think Radiohead were very proud of that record so they may continue in that vein.

Most of these speculations I am pulling out of my tight a-hole.

Did anyone actually get a confirmation email when they pre ordered the mp3s??

Kid V i just ordered the mp3 version online, got a confirmation email within 10 seconds. make sure you check your junk mail and bank statement to make sure the payment went through

No, but info posted and later removed from the Japanese site suggest there may only be 8 tracks.

And Ateaseweb consider the following tracks to be possible candidates for inclusion:
    The Daily Mail
    Mouse Dog Bird
    Lotus Flower
    Give Up The Ghost
    Skirting On The Surface
    Open The Floodgates
    Let Me Take Control/Chris Hodge
    Burn The Witch
    No Shame
    Pay Day
    Super Collider
