    Hi all,

Just wondering if it is possible to receive the saorview test broadcast channels using a regular skybox on a particular frequency?

My apologies if this is a stupid question, but I tried searching the forum and couldn't find any thread on it.

    Thanks in advance

    An ex Sky customer ?

You need a HD combo box. Stick in the Terrestrial forum. Connect you existing sat cable to it and an aerial (an indoor aerial may suffice) for the dtt part. All in one box, one remote, one channel list. No bills.

Saorsat (when it starts) won't work on a Sky box either.

Sorry I should have made my question better. I currently have a sky subscription through that box.

The reason I was asking about saorview was because I heard that you can view some of the RTE2 broadcast in HD? Not sure if thats true.

Really what I would like is to add the RTE2 HD trial channel to the skybox if possible?

No. It's not on 28.2E. It might eventually be in Sky package, in which case you need a Sky HD box.

It will be FTA (no subscription needed) but on a different satellite that the sky HD box doesn't work with. Non-HD Sky boxes can't get any HD.

    see www.saortv.info all explained.

RTE2 HD on Terrestrial Digital, doesn't actually have any HD content yet.

Thanks watty. Again I should have specified it is a Sky HD box, having one of those days :)

If it does appear in the sky package I suppose it will be quite a while yet!

Just spotted on another thread at the same time that the RTE digital channels are not available on Satellite. MPEG4 digital tuner only atm

    Must look into getting one.

Hi all, apologies if I'm not using this system properly (this is my fist time using Boards.ie) but can anyone help me with my question. A couple of years back I installed a "LIDL" free to air satellite dish, LNB and receiver. Everything worked fine, but I was never happy with the EPG on this receiver. I recently removed the LIDL receiver and replaced it with an old sky box I had because of the superior EPG built into this unit, and again everything worked fine, at least for a few hours and then it seemed just to stop receiving a satellite signal and I couldn't get it working again. Is there a reason for this??

In the first instance, I'd swap back the Lidl receiver, just to rule out the Sky box/tuner being faulty.

After that, could be a myriad of things. Cable got pinched, f-conns loose in sockets or cable coming out of them, water in cable if not sealed, lnb faulty or out of skew, dish knocked out of alignment with wind.

Swap the receiver first anyway. The Lidl box has a better tuner (than an "old" Sky receiver, IME) , so if the dish is only "slightly" out of alignment, you may see some picture.

If not, then you'll need to troubleshoot further.
