Couch to 5K good for weight loss?

Just a quick question, is the couch to 5k programme any good for losing weight?

I assume that you would naturally get progressively fitter throughout it (seeing as though that's the general idea, lol) but I have just over a stone that I want to shift and am thinking of starting it (I want to up my fitness in general too though...)

However, I've often seen people running, not a bother on them, they seem to even be enjoying it, but they're still overweight...so is it possible to be aerobically fit but still overweight or are they just putting on a brave face and secretly dying on the inside?!

    thanks

In my opinion and experience, fitness and weight haven't much in common. But this could be different for other people.

I've been fit as a fiddle (or as fit as I ever was), able to run 5k in 19 minutes (which was good for me!) and had a good bit of bodyfat on me. And I've had very little bodyfat on me and not being able to run a mile.

To answer your first question, is the program good for weightloss - it's ok. A more important factor in weight loss is getting your diet right. And I'd put a good weights program ahead of a running program as a better tool for weight loss also.
