    1. I once attended a gig of yours that consisted of you abusing a female member of the audience for 40 minutes. Can I have my money back please?

So you sat there for 40 minutes and watched? Must have been good.

    Hi Dave,

Whats with Edwin & Patsy > is it a mickey take on give my head some peace ?

why the catchphrase > stick it in the pan ?

and why does Patsy have a long arm ?

PS why do you have such a big nose;) hee hee
Seems to be Give my Head Peace and the catchphrase is "Stick it in a Pie", I think.

    For David:

Love the show by the way. The best Irish comedy since, and on a par with Father Ted.

    1. Do you enjoy riling up small minded people who have a personal vendetta against you and as a result, won't give your TV show a chance? I think you'll notice a few of them on this thread. Also, since starting The Savage Eye, are you moving away from busking and insulting people on the street?

    2. As mentioned before, what's the future of the savage eye?
I can't see it going for any more than one more season. There's only so much you can do with that format, in my opinion.

    3. Have you ever considered doing a political satire type show the likes of the Daily Show with John Stewart?

    4. I read in an article that you made a pilot for channel four? Is it available to watch anywhere?

What would you rate as the best Irish produced comedy up til now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,610 ✭✭✭ArtSmart

How are the sketches written? (team/ individual etc)

Do you use the same director on all sketches?

As a comedian who is sometimes controversial and known for being well, a bit mean to nice folk, where do you draw the line at comedy being offensive? Have you an example of any other comedians that you feel went too far?

so whats the story with the interview?

I'm meeting David later today to ask the questions, then will edit the video and put it live.

Do you ever take into consideration the personal feeling of those you mock/abuse, and do you ever think you have taken things too far? I only ask because of the time I saw you completely humiliate a girl in front of her class, before storming off because none of the audience were laughing at your "jokes".
It was so bad that your own producer had to apologise immediately afterwards, and the professional body running the course had to send formal letters of apology to the students. The girl you abused subsequently dropped out of the course as a direct result of your insults.

Make sure you ask my tubridy question!!

And whatever you do, dont edit out his initial reaction, which will surely be of sheer embarrassment and hatred for his unfortunate genetic connections to the massively untalented and grossly overpaid Fianna Fail shill...

    ....I would imagine.

That's the best excuse i ever heard!!
"ma i'm dropping out of college because a comedian was at me"

Hmmm, remember it's much easier to put questions up on a forum than it is to sit opposite the guy you're asking them to face to face.

Will ask what I can, if I can. Truth be told, even though I know David, I'm a bit nervous. He is also doing this to promote the show and his night in Vicar Street so I'll be talking to him about that too.

Good luck with it Darragh.. Following on to Tele's question... I would be interested as to :

    Q. How did the transition from street performer to TV satirist happen?

David, would you laugh or cry if a politician used "i'll fix the road" as his/her official slogan!!

Any chance of Eoin McLove making a cameo appearance in the show?

Since Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews have nothing to do with it I'd say that's not going to happen. Pat McDonnell doesn't own the character.

I don't think McSavage is the kind of person who cares about such trivial matters as ownership...

    RTE on the other hand...

[satire]Is this how you got the gig in RTE too David?[/satire] :D

And why are you coming on here to tout your gig? Sure, isn't it just a bunch of "wobbly personalities"going mad in their bedrooms here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,241 ✭✭✭Darragh

Interview now done. Full and frank and disarmingly refreshingly honest.

    He hates you all :pac:

I'll stick it live as soon as I can. Editing etc to be done on it so it'll be tomorrow at the earliest.

    Thanks for all the input!

I'd say he does. There's no hope in hell of him robbing a character completely from Father Ted. McDonnell would never do it for a start and Linehan would destroy them in court if they attempted it.
