Definitely, going from being linked with SPL jobs to Newry is a step down.

Not yet. He played in a friendly over the weekend though and we're expected to be confirming a signing tomorrow. It'll be him or Boco I'd say.

    Why the new thread lads?

Can't see Nutsy even considering jobs at that level. If anything, it might be a little plant to confirm he's open to offers.

I think thats pretty much taken as read. When the BBC are linking you with every job in the SPL i think you can assume that he is in the market

FANS are reminded that tickets must be purchased for Portadown’s Carling Premiership game at home to Glenavon on Saturday, February 19 and the confirmed Setanta Sports Cup clash with Bohemians in Dublin on Monday, February 21.
    Hopefully true

I don't care about the tournament, more from the point of view of us having a squad

Went to the old Cork last year then on to Galway where they needed to release him because they couldnt afford him half way through the season. I see a pattern forming.

Lets hope he gets it right this time.

PAT Fenlon is close to making his first close-season signing for Bohemians as strikers Anto Flood and Chris Fagan are in talks with the Dalymount Park club.

Fenlon has been unable to officially sign any new players for the 2011 season due to the club's financial wrangles, but pre-season training continued this week with a number of trialists -- including an impressive import from Hungary.

Fenlon could raid the squad of the now-defunct Sporting Fingal and players such as Ronan Finn, Shaun Williams and Ger O'Brien have already been linked with a move to Phibsborough.

Former Shelbourne man Flood was in line to sign for Fingal after a spell in Sweden but has trained with Bohs this week and Fenlon could do a deal with the striker.

Ex-Manchester United trainee Fagan has trained with Bohs too and though he was also on trial with Shamrock Rovers, playing for the Hoops against Cork City last week, Fenlon has now been linked with the 21-year-old.

Friendly against Shels cofirmed, Tuesday 15th. Things are finally moving :)

Like myself, missed our only 2 pre-season matches because of work/college and 2 others were called off. Now I've Bohs and Shams this week to look forward too.:D

Very disappointing but definitely not a cause for undue concern.
Ah if the board say so everything must be ok. What a relief.

Guards called it off. With some of the guys we're signing in the next few days, next season isn't going to be bad as I thought.

    Portadown match suspended

    http://www.portadownfc.co.uk/
The IFA have confirmed that Portadown will replay their JJB Irish Cup game against H&W Welders on Monday 21st February 2011 at Shamrock Park with a 7:45pm kick-off. The Setanta Cup first round first leg fixture against Bohemians, originally scheduled for the same date, has now been postponed and will be re-arranged as soon as possible.

Not out fault for once! If we can get a friendy in instead would be good in terms of fitness etc

Signings set to be announced tomorrow.

    http://www.bohemians.ie/news/4-club-news/1063-fenlon-to-announce-signings.html

I expect Ger O'Brien, Liam Burns, Anto Flood, Chris Fagan, Mark Rossiter, Stephen Bayley and Aidan Price to be announced.

Played for Belvo and Ireland throughout underage levels, versatile Defender/midfielder according to Readings website.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,314 ✭✭✭BOHtox

We signed a few today. Rumoured to still be after Lorcan Fitzgerald and Sean O'Connor.
So that would mean a team of

    Murphy
    O'Brien
    Price
    Burns
    Fitzgerald
    Burke
    Bayly
    Cronin
    O'Connor
    Flood
    Fagan
    subs: O'Connor, Rossi, Heary, Joyce

Ronan Finn, Shaun Williams and Kevin Dawson from Fingal were offered contracts. Finn is on trail with Palace, could still happen, Williams is off to Celtic, Dawson hasn't decided yet.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

    Dawson signed for Shels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Much better calibur of signing than I expected there. Reckon the fall of Fingal and the closeness to the start of the season and a lack of interest from elsewhere meant you got them on the cheap.

Aside from Bayly, he's absolute muck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Did Bayly not destroy the Israelis? Im fairly happy as long as the budget is way below 500k. I'd have been delighted if we had gone for this sort of young squad with something to prove a year ago.

These is the confirmed squad so far (no Barry Murphy at the mo)

    *

Liam Burns (defender), who returns to Bohemians after two seasons with Dundalk
    *

Aidan Price (defender), who joins from Shamrock Rovers
    *

Ger O’Brien (defender/midfield), who has played most recently with Sporting Fingal and, before that, with Derry City and Shamrock Rovers
    *

Chris Fagan (striker), a former Home Farm schoolboy player who has been with Lincoln City since 2009
    *

Anto Flood (striker), formerly with Pat Fenlon in Shelbourne and who played last season with Galway United
    *

Robert Bayly (striker), who joins from Shamrock Rovers, having previously been with Leeds United.
    *

Daniel Joyce (defender), a former Bohemians youth player who is with Reading FC in the English Championship, joins the squad on loan.

Gary Burke (striker), who was in Bohemians’ Under-20 squad last year but made several senior team appearances, has a contract the senior squad.

The following players who were with the squad last year stay on or return for 2011: Chris O’Connor (goalkeeper), Owen Heary (defender), Glenn Cronin (midfield) and Mark Rossiter (defender).

Looks like a side designed to compete to me. Wonder how Bohs are paying for it. Surely an amateur side was the way to go.
