    Breaking news:

    * West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo has been relieved of his duties and placed on gardening leave

Thats a pity for him and the fact Wolves play them soon (twice)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭amiable

    Stupid decision IMHO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Bad decision, thought he was doing well with them. Go through one bad patch and you get sacked, disgraceful really.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

Form has been poor lately, but overall he was doing a very good job and playing some good football. More chairman muppetry.

should be no real shock about this move - part of the course now unfortunetly

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,928 ✭✭✭✭Panthro

Poor Roberto, hopefully he finds something else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭whatawaster

Disgraceful. He was building a decent side there. They've been unlucky several times this season. Games at Liverpool and united spring to mind

Stupid decision. We'll probably get relegated now.

just another nail in the soul of football.

how the fúck do these owners justify this sort of shít?

if Roberto hadn't had such a good start to the season, there is no way he'd be sacked now if the position in the table were the same.

so in essence, he's being fired for having a good run at the start of the season.

this sort of crap makes me physically angry.

Shocking decision, who do they think they can get that will do a better job?
FFS he even won a manager of the month trophy this season :p

they're not even in the f**king drop zone! madness!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,594 ✭✭✭jaykay74

Balls. Wba played nice football and I dont think he has spent much. Should have played sh!t pulis style football I suppose.

That is a surprise, only 13 games to go. After getting them promoted and picking up 26 points already surely he deserved more.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 723 ✭✭✭Ian_K

Absolutely stupid, he was getting the best out of the players he had, thats all you can ask of a manager
Half of them simply arent good enough for the premiership

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,348 ✭✭✭✭ricero

    Lovely jubely

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,435 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Crazy decision imo. Hope they pay the price for this.

Disgraceful. Hope they go down now.

Back to route one again then presuambly. Presuambly they have someone lined up. Why do it a week after the end of the transfer window? Moronic.

    Gary Megson to the rescue

Jesus, They'll prob bring in Big Sam and go to long ball and get relegated

Short-sighted, idiotic decision. Isn't it just so sad that it still isn't a surprising decision?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,519 ✭✭✭Underground

Probably the best WBA side I've seen in the premiership in recent years too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,316 ✭✭✭ButcherOfNog

I would say the sensible money will be on Roy Hodgson to replace him

    I'd love to see that!

    Probably Roy. It's his level.

Great decision. Yeah I know football has gone crazy and he should have been goven more time. But has anyone actually watched them the past month? They've been absolutely woeful and very stale looking.

Hate to say it but I agree. Awful decision, unless something else went on behind the scenes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46,814 ✭✭✭✭Mitch Connor

Big Sam and Chris Hughton would be the two most likely imo.

    Shocking decision.

Victim of his own success. You have to wonder what some clubs are thinking when they make decisions like this.

    Baffling decision.

Di Matteo was a nice guy, his side played some lovely stuff. They've been unlucky too a few times this season. I know they are 2 points of the relegation zome but look at their next 4 fixtures

    WBA vs West Ham
    WBA vs Wolves
    Stoke vs WBA
    Birmingham vs WBA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,555 ✭✭✭Gillington

I'd say Brian Robson is waiting excitedly by the phone

Considering,a lot of people think they'll get relegated(look at the relegation thread), it's probably a good choice. They havent been winning too much lately so might aswell make a change

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,385 ✭✭✭✭D'Agger

Just keeping with the general gist of the thread - Stupid fúcking decision.

He had WBA playing some lovely football and they weren't in the drop zone - it's idiocy!

They're the results since November. They had a good start, and the WBA board obviously don't have faith in him to get points in their next 4 games.

They have the worst defense in the league so they prob will try and get someone in like big Sam to sort them out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,977 ✭✭✭Soby

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/w/west_bromwich_albion/results/default.stm

    Look at those results.
A lot of his losses (with the excetion of few 3-0/1 defeats, one of them yesterday and the 6-0 hammering we gave them) have been very very tight games.
Examples of some good results he got
    West Brom 1-1 Tottenham

    Arsenal 2-3 West Brom

    Man Utd 2-2 West Brom

    Everton 1-4 West Brom

    West Brom 3-1 Newcastle

Strange decision just like Houghton really.Prob will go down now I'd say

Btw was not farmilar with the term "Garden leave" till i googled it just there.Usually a practice done in football?

4 points from there last 27. That's a shocking return. I think theywere right to sack him as I felt they would have reall struggled to stay up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,592 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Its very hard to defend those results, and things didn't really look like improving.

4 winnable games coming up, but they can equally be considered as must win games, so maybe it was the best time for a change.

Di Matteo is a nice guy, and tries to play nice football, and I think that's more behind the outcry against his sacking than the realities. Not really comparable to the Hughton sacking at all IMO.

    Martin Jol.

Still bit harsh though given what he had done with the club.Sure look at our man Carlo's record recently.Did a rough work out there.Bout 8 points from 21 or so at one point.

    Woy for West Brom

Terrible decision, i always like Roberto, hopefully he'll get another job soon. As for West Brom, i'd like to see them go down now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Unfortunate. West Brom can play some really really decent stuff.

    Stange one.

They have been great to watch when on form this season.
