I bought all of mine second hand. I even ended up getting some for free. Buy and sell, adverts and even the Herald at one stage done the trick. People buy weights to use at home and then never bother with them long term. I've taken a bench of someone and light weights just to get at the bigger ones they were offering as they wanted to get rid of them all together. Worked out way cheaper than buying them new. You end up with a few mismatched plates but doesn't make any difference.
