Manchester United will be looking to strengthen their hold on top spot when they travel to bottom club Wolves.

Mick McCarthy's men have performed well against the bigger teams this season and only lost 2-1 at Old Trafford back in November thanks to a late strike from Park Ji-sung.

They have also beaten Liverpool and Chelsea more recently, but head into Saturday's clash low on confidence following three straight league defeats.

A three-point gap needs to be made up if Wolves are to climb out of the relegation zone and for that to happen this weekend United's unbeaten record would have to come to an end.

The Red Devils' remarkable run has been achieved despite critics suggesting they have not been at their best for long periods this season.

United traditionally improve as a campaign nears its conclusion and there has been evidence over the past few weeks that they are clicking into gear.

Wayne Rooney also rediscovered his scoring touch to inspire a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa in midweek that maintained a five-point advantage over Arsenal at the summit.

    Team news

Jamie O'Hara could make his first start for Wolves after joining on loan from Tottenham and coming on as a substitute in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat to Bolton.

Stephen Hunt missed the Reebok Stadium clash due to a calf injury and is expected to be sidelined for a couple more weeks.

Ronald Zubar made the mistake that allowed Bolton to score but McCarthy backed his defender after the match and has a decision to make over whether to make a change.

Darren Fletcher is expected to be fit for Manchester United after recovering from an eye injury that forced him to be substituted with blurred vision against Villa.

Rafael is pushing for a return to the side after returning to training following a bout of concussion.

And Gary Neville is no longer available for selection after this week announcing his retirement with immediate effect.

    Possible starting XIs
Wolves: Hennessey, Zubar, Berra, Stearman, Elokobi, Hammill, Henry, O'Hara, Edwards, Jarvis, Doyle.

Manchester United: Van der Sar, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Carrick, Scholes, Rooney, Berbatov.

    Poor attempt SB.
No teams yet on MUTV anyway.

I asked for the line-ups, not the "number of players on the pitch", it's an hour before kick-off so they should be out in the next few minutes.

If the other games today are anything to go by then I predict a scoreline of 5-9 to Utd.

Once United win and Rooney scores i couldnt give a toss what the score is.

Me too, but Anderson's away form has not been up to scratch.
Very little creativity in midfield today and I see this been won by a single goal.
After Arsenal's slip up we need to win this big time.

Don't worry, that result has been reserved for tomorrow's match between Chelsea & Liverpool :D

Ferdinand injured in the warm up, Evans replaces him

Todays high scoring trend to continue here.

    Wolves 1 - 4 Man United

Anyone know the nature of Ferdinand's injury? United don't look half as strong at the back without him. If he's gonna be out for a while, it could cause some problems.

Smalling would've made more sense, imo. He's like-for-like with Rio.

He got injured in the warm up :(

Don't know the nature of the injury.

Smaling takes Evans' place on the bench.

Anyone got any SopCast links? 90521 keeps saying Can not retrieve data and 80521 says it's offline.

I've got a Veetle link but I've a feeling it will go down soon enough

Smalling wasn't named on the bench so Evans would be better prepared to come straight into the side.

Funny one alright, without Rio, I am happy it is Fletch and Carrick in midfield now. See this going to be a 1-2 or 2-3 scoreline now.
