You're not alone Tapes. I think I have a mild case of OCD. When I'm taking to people, I sometimes wonder how they would react if I did something out of character and weird. I used to wonder what I my friends would think if i planted a big smacker on their lips as they are talking. I'd never do it but that doesn't stop me thinking about it.

As another poster said, it's like mental tourrettes.

When I am on an airplane I have to be physically restrained (usually by my two strong uncles who accompany me on all plane travels) from opening the door when we are at cruising altitude.

I think you're confusing OCD with Schizophrenia.

I don't have OCD, although I have read quite a few studies about the disorder and psychologists seem to be of the opinion that it is a OH LOOK SOMETHING SHINY!

I have a thing in supermarkets where I need to straighten up rows of products as I walk around, drives my wife nuts. she always says if you are so fond of it why not get a job in a supermarket
If I see something out of place I need to return it to the right aisle
I find it really difficult to take a can of Coke if it leaves an odd number in a row or is the first of a new row

Also I turn Lloyd Grossmans range of crappy sauces to his picture is facing the back of the shelf

I know what you mean OP. I wouldn't worry about it :), unless you have more serious issues such as hygiene obsessions etc.

Ok, sometimes when I'm really really stoned and I talk to people, I might usually reply with a non word, you know a hm or an mmm or a half word like yeh asyouf*ckindo like but I forget what I just did. I then get this idea that I made a really weird noise or put a really weird emphasis and then in the space of 10 seconds I'll have replayed the incident in my head 20 times each time getting worse and then I'll have this vision of myself looking like a mentally disabled person making random noises.

    Paranoid as f*ck bro.

Ah shitebox, looks like I have mental tourettes as I get something very similar to the OP on occasions

Some people can't hold babies because they imagine themselves dropping them.

I can't hold them cause I imagine myself dropping them under a lorry.

:D Thanks for best laugh all day.
I was actually once on a flight, seated next to the emergency door when a man left his seat and walked over and stood at the door, acting very agitated and shifting from one foot to the other. Everyone was looking at him. He sat down after a minute (a looong minute) and everything went back to normal.

It was you, wasnt it?! (true story though.)

I bet this is a unique one here.

I worked with morse code for years, constantly listening to and sending it for eight hour shifts.

And although its been a few years since I operated it I convert nearly all signage to morse code by taping it out with either my fingers or feet!.

    Bollox, doing it now

I get something similar like this. In situations when someone is telling you a really long story and they are staring at you the whole time and you don't know them that well so you have to maintain eye contact, I often think what if I just punch them in the face. Even if it's a really old person this comes into my head, I'd never do it, but I just start thinking of stuff you'd never do in the situation and then kind of half think I'm going to do it.
I think everyone has a bit of an OCD though I bet lots of people won't walk on cracks on footpaths, use uneven numbers and was their hands far too much.

OCD is the evolutionary step between humans and computers. It's the brain evolving to compute binary and such ****.

    My take anyways.

    I have two things:

On any written sign, I squint my eyes and 'shoot' the gaps between the enclosed letters (dpoq etc...), then I squint outside them, as if my eyes are doing like a 'fill colour' functon from ms paint. I have to get all of them!

I don't do this one anymore, but when I was young I used to have a thing where I'd feel like there was a rope attached to my back, so I'd have to walk in a way that I wouldn't get tangled- like if I went around a tree, Id have to go back around. Once this was in my head there was no getting it out, but I didn't have it all the time.

Wow, I just realised I'm nuts!

If I sing or hum a song to myself it's usually continious right throughout the day and into night and if not vocally then in my head .It's no wonder I know so many songs off by heart .

The only OCD-like behaviour I recall doing is walking in step (if that's how you put it, I can't really remember) with people who walk in front of me. Mostly happens when the person in front of me is wearing footwear that's fairly noisy :P

Thank God this thread was started! I do this a lot!!! Or when you think a really bad thought just to see if you can think it.. if that makes sense!! :(:o

  • I have one which comes and goes. If I hear a word that is kind of long I spell the word out on my fingers. Then I continue to spell it along my fingers until it ends on a multiple of 10. :o

I used to do that sometimes. Like "I wonder what would happen if I threw a milkshake at someone" or in a very quiet place, what would happen if I stood up and screamed.
Mostly I have my compulsive twirly-thing and my compulsive correcting of common spelling mistakes :(
