Mocks 2011 - Read Before Posting.

This thread is for discussion of the Mocks. Please restrict all discussion of the 2011 Mocks to this thread. Other threads may be deleted or closed.

A few simple rules to ensure this thread runs as smoothly as possible:
    • NO POSTING OF MOCK PAPERS: Any posts of the actual papers will be deleted and the user posting them will be banned.

    • USE SPOILER TAGS: If you are referring to any specific material on any Mock paper, make sure to use spoiler tags so that people who don't want to know what's on a given paper won't see. A spoiler looks like this:
      Your text here
. To use spoiler tags, click the spoiler.gif icon.

    • We don't encourage people to post info, and we certainly don't encourage people to read ... in fact, my personal advice to all of you would be to make the Mocks as near the experience of the real thing as possible, and go into it blind, and if that means panic, now is a better time to learn to deal with that than the day of the actual exam.

By getting hints, you're really not fooling anyone but yourself.

However, we recognise that you are all old enough to be responsible for your own actions here, and at least this system means that if people are going to post or seek for hints, they are confined to one thread and others can avoid them.

This policy has evolved in this forum over a number of years: it may not be perfect, but we have found it to be the best compromise. This thread is NOT to be used for arguing with those who choose to post or look for hints.

    • All standard boards.ie rules apply here: no flaming, trolling, personal abuse or spamming. Please remember that txtspeak is NOT welcome on Boards. Using large font / multi-coloured text is also both unwelcome and unnecessary.

If you have an issue with a moderation decision, please PM the Mod in question. Do not argue about Mod decisions on thread.

A bit of clarification on what does and doesn't need to be in spoiler tags:

"English was dire, I ran out of time. My drama question was so rushed." = This is fine. You're not giving away any information about the specific content of the paper. No spoilers needed, post away!

"English was dire, I had no idea what to say for the hero question for Romeo and Juliet." = This is not fine. Spoilers please.

I have copied this thread from the Leaving Cert forum with permission, so that we had a thread to discuss the Mocks.

Has anyone started their Mocks yet?

I've got Maths paper 1 on Monday afternoon, then Tuesday is Home Ec and English paper 1... I can't wait to have it all over and done with. :)

I started the other day and HL english was really easy, but like 5 different companies print the mocks so you're probably better off preparing yourself coz if you study for what someone else tells you and you get a different paper, you're in trouble.. And irish HL was hard enough, but im no good at it anyway :L

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 401 ✭✭Legion.

The Irish Aural(HL)wasn't too bad had to guess a couple of answers but all in all wasn't as bad as I thought.

Have my first written paper on Tuesday, Spanish! Should be fairly easy.

What exam papers did you have?

I just want to know if you could use a match for any of the essay's titles?

What do you mean a match?

A short-story. We're in the National Cup final. We win the match on penalties, and I'm the hero. That's it in a nutshell.

Anything that something like that can fit into. It's very adaptable and I've never had a problem before.

But ya gotta remember you could get a different paper so dont put too much effort into that one..

Yeah, thanks. I'm not going to rely on what I hear online. I just want to narrow things down.

Well, if there was a tick on the front they are Examcraft. Otherwise, you can't tell without seeing the marking scheme, but they are probably DEB.

Would you not do your aural as part of your written examination, at the very beginning?

For the pres, no. We did them in class last week. For the actual thing it'll be in the hall obviously. It's just that we're sharing the hall with the Leaving Cert people so we can't listen to the tapes in there.

So, do you have extra time to complete the paper for your Pre, or will time be taken off?

I'm guessing that they're going to take the time off and let us use it to study before the Pre. :)

This is what I heard from a friend. I can't confirm or deny, and I don't know what company it is.

    Business Paper One.
Long Questions - Household Budget, Club Account, People at Work, Banking, Insurance.

That's five out of the six long questions.

Anything in particular you would recommend revising? Should we be able to do everything on the paper? Any other tips?

    It's my first test. :pac:

I'd advise doing every one of them, I mean your supposed to and it picks up attempt marks. I was able to do everything, except for one question which we haven't done yet my teacher told us we didn't have to do it.
Just revise graphs, factorizing and compound interests really, you'll be well able to do it I'd say.

    What do you have tomorrow?

Home ec & English paper 1. Kind of easy day really, I know most of the home ec I think and I'm generally good at English. :) Then on Wednesday I've got CSPE, Thursday is Geography I think and Friday is Science. I have no idea what I have week 2.. I'm so organised. ;)

    That's the spirit. :pac:

Any chance you could check if there's an essay title that I could use for a match? A day I would like to have relive. Hero. Best day of my life. Childhood memory. It was the unfairness of it all that annoyed me most. I wish I had listened.

    Anything along those lines.

I can't remember them all, buuuut....
There was one about delicious food.. And there was one that you had to start or end it with "I was at the right place at the right time" so I'd say you could use that? It was really easy.
