    Nobody, because twitter is retarded...

Ugh, there's always one... Twitter is a phenomenal success, over 100 million people like and use it for a multitude of applications. I just don't get these twitter/facebook haters. "I don't understand something so I'll say I hate it and live in ignorance"

Twitter is as good as you make it. If all you want to follow is celebrities and idiots, then it will be retarded, but there are plenty of really interesting people and organisations to follow - and its a fantastic way to consume information.

Still havent cottoned on to the Twitter thing myself...

People were raving bout Stephen Frys, so I started following him, still didnt get it.

    Ill stick to QI

    Nobody, because twitter is retarded...

I couldn't understand the appeal and thought it was just for nerds, but started using it recently and find it really handy, especially for breaking news events. And also just for filling the odd few minutes gap in the day.

Mainly friends, so we can talk crap to each other. Theres a few Boardsies on there! A load of comedians for a laugh, wildcat in case they have any promotions.

Everyone should add me on Twitter...i'm really interesting....i swear! :o

Cast of Glee, for obvious reasons.

50 cent, because I usually get a laugh out of what he says even if it isn't supposed to be funny.

Mark Hoppus because he posts all the time.

Kerry Katona & Jordan, cos they're thick as fcuk and always highly entertaining

Gary Busey, He's just a complate lunatic and some of the shiit he comes out with is awesome

Joe Rogan, another funny as fcuk guy

I used to follow Miriam O' Callaghan.
But then she called the Gaurds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,734 ✭✭✭✭Penn

    Goddamn Batman
    Diana In Heaven
    The Big Sam
    Kevin Smith
And most British/Irish comedians like Jimmy Carr, Dara O'Briain, Rob Brydon etc

As someone said before, Twitter is what you make of it. It passes the time, you can get some news pretty quickly for it, people and celebs sharing links to funny or interesting things. Why is that stupid? Yes, some people use it way too much and write about every little thing they're doing. But you don't have to. You don't have to write anything. And if someone is writing too much, you don't have to follow them.

Besides, Boards.ie is on Twitter, so it must be cool! Right?

The only thing I hear, in the media, about twitter is the tripe that "celebs" spout. Who says what type of crap is the retarded part of twitter. It's pointless and yet a pletora of imbocils follow this rubbish for some reason or another.

Nobodies contesting it's success. You will find it's success is founded on people "following" celebs to find out sensless crap about them. They become like gods. It's hilarious.

Demi Moore/Ashton Kutchers Twitter is probably what makes me dislike the whole concept. It seems to be constant self-indulgent crap that nobody apart fromt heir die-hard fans would ever care about it, yet its in the news! (granted not the very reputable news but news nonetheless).

I might give it another go with some of the pages listed on here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭Aldebaran

Simon Pegg, Graham Linehan, Peter Serafinawicz, and the cast of Community would be a few of my favourites. Following a few Irish journalists and politicians too, twitter is great for keeping track of stuff relating to the upcoming election. Also, the twitter feed for the Late Late Show is far more entertaining than the show itself.

I find that people who call twitter 'retarded' do so because they don't know how to use it.

Mickey_Rourke is crazy on Twitter too. Dunno if it's really him, but here's a selection of his tweets:
My only resolution this year was to not jump a speedboat into an orphanage and I've already failed miserably.
Throwing open the curtain this morning, it dawned on me that I slept in a photobooth again. According to these photos, I now have hepatitis.
On trash day I love doing that thing where you leap from the bin and jokingly demand the garbage man's wallet. And then take it. Jokingly.

    Irish Times.
    The Onion.
    RTE_Elections.
    Stephen Fry.
Couple of tech blogs (Gizmodo, Androidica etc.)
Newsthump (English version of The Onion)
    Al Jazeera Breaking News.

Used to think that it was pretty stupid but now it's my main source of news. It's a widget on my Android device.

Set it up for my dad on his iPhone4 lately and he is a convert. It's an awful load of arse on the iPhone though due to the lack of a widget.

twitter has 190 million signed up users - how many are active - doesn't mean there's 100 million users and very unlikely there is

I for example signed up too see what the fuss was about - didn't like it - though it was crap - rarely use it at all now but I'm still considered a user

how many "ACTIVE" users has it got and how many of the 65 million tweets a day are by people who tweet 20 times a day??

I don't like it at all but I can see why some people like it but I can say I tried it..

just don't see the point in it really - I have no interest in celeb gossip so I couldn't care less what some famous person is after eating for breakfast..

just not my cup of tea at all but if you like it you like it

a few funny ones of note:

    thebrieparty

Too many to list, Adam Schefter from ESPN is a good one. He's great for breaking NFL stories
    I know other reporters too

The journal.ie isn't bad either, they take stories from different sources. I never read the website but handy for updates
The only thing I hear, in the media, about twitter is the tripe that "celebs" spout. Who says what type of crap is the retarded part of twitter. It's pointless and yet a pletora of imbocils follow this rubbish for some reason or another.

Twitter is what you make of it.
If you follow the best journalists and reporters, you get the breaking news.
Follow celebs and you get rubbish.

I dismissed it for a long time and then I found how to get it to work for me

But you aren't realy using it.
It's not just about celebrity gossip.

Do you know any reporters/journalists or organizations you think are good?
Even if you don't, have you a favourite sports team and want the breaking news?
And even then, you can use it for travel updates, like the AA on traffic.
I haven't listed one tenth of the possibilities

It's your job to make it work for you. :)
Not just dismiss it as celeb gossip

I follow news and info sites mostly. I use tweetdeck and follow certain hastags too. #Egypt #ge11 etc

I find it a great news resource, faster than most other news sources. Also stuff like the Ray Shah thing today can be interesting. Man is he slightly fubar'd :/

I am also nerdlyishly watch the ipv4 countdown! Been watching it since 55 million were left, a couple of weeks ago. Now below 5 million

I follow the pro golfers Westwood, McDowell, Poulter and McIlroy. The piss taking they have with each other is very funny. Also, several Arsenal Players and Rio Ferdinand. Moncrieff and Fry as well.

It's funny how ordinary some of these celebrity lives are. As has been said, it just passes a few minutes a day and can be a laugh.

Despite having 'lost it' in the last few... decades, Steve Martin's tweets alone are worth having a twitter app.

    Also, Stephen Colbert.
