Was looking at a first degree water rowing machine but will cost around €800 new. Does anyone have one of them and if so how do you find it? Is it worth the money and how does it compare to other similar priced machines

The gym I go to has a water machine, one where the water container is at the side, not underneath. I'm not sure of the make but they are easier machines than the Concept 2 ones, so my trainer told me.
I was trying to aim for 1500 in 6 mins and was ten secs off on the water machine, but when i was home at the weekend, and using a concept 2 machine in another gym it nearly took me 7 mins when I felt I was going to hit my goal! I mentioned this to my trainer, thinking I was crap and was gutted at how I really felt I would make the time on the concept 2 and he said they are "harder" machines, and more olympic type, better all round.

But I'm sure they are alot more expensive too!
Personally I like the water one...think the sound is pretty cool actually! :)

You'd probably pick up a second hand C2 for that price if you keep an eye on the buy and sell and adverts.ie.

I would at that price buy a C2.

thanks for replys, I like the sound and feel of the water rower and think it might suit better at home then the C2. Will have to pass the idea past the OH first

How does the sound help your fitness?
How does it feel different (both have resistance settings I imagine)
How is one more suited than the other.
    Curious

Sounds like you just want a water rower tbh, if so just get one (even though you've been told its a bad idea). No need to make up excuses.

When originally launched a few of the water rowers selling points were:
    • Quieter operation
    • Looks like a piece of furniture as all wood
    • Replicates on water more closely.
I tried a WR when a rower and it was not as good as the C2, it was easier.

This is probably the one area where a single product so clearly dominates worldwide - all references to time etc are based on the C2.

Ive been looking around for a C2 for a good few months now and only seen one on iether of those sites but was sold before I saw it.
Sorry to hijack thread but if anyone wants rid of one I'm your man !

@poncherello: If you have transport (a van or access to somebody with a van) then have a look at the Market Place forum on the Concept UK site.

There are usually a few for sale in the UK or NI and if you had a van you may be able to drive to NI or take the ferry to UK and collect. You might nab yourself a bargin ;)

Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with Concept2 UK

The model c onwards splits in half so would fit into most cars at a guess - certainly if the back seats folded down.
