Have we the option of saying neither?

If so, then save your money and learn all about food and how to lose bodyfat on the Diet & Nutrition subforum. The stickies are a great help, and will provide you with all the basic information you need to help you to acheive your goals.

I'd like to propose a third option......

I'm no fan of WW or unislim as both have serious question marks over their success long term IMHO.

Only through education and learning about food AND exercise can people escape the fat thin cycle and start down a path to long term health.

However, if you feel like you need some company and group encouragement you should join a group at least to begin with. Personally I'd think doing it with some friends would be better in the long run.

I lost 3st with WW. My diet was terrible & I did no exercise to start with so it was a handy way to get a handle on portion sizes, nutrition value & content of foods, meal planning, etc. I didnt bother with the meetings but I would go just to get weighed.

My wife also lost around 4st with WW.

We stopped WW about 2 years ago but lost another stone each by simply exercise & watching what we eat.

IMO WW or similar is fine for a kick start but you need more long term.

I find WW good to for the weekly meeting and weigh in but I do think educating yourself about nutrition is the way forward long term.

That is what I am hoping to teach myself so I can keep the weight off for good.
