    Thanks

have NTL said they were going to change it around, or are you just assuming they will because Sky are mixing theirs up?

Well we know MTV channels are closing and rebranding. Living is rebranding and Channel One is closing. Lots of change, no word from UPC yet.

3am and Living has updated to Sky Living. It's been broadcasting in the black for 2 hours or so now. No sign of a temp Living slot for old recordings yet on the EPG.

    Todays changes:
Bravo, Bravo+1 and Channel One are gone
Living has been renamed Sky Living
Mtv One stays where it was at 701
Mtv Music replaces Mtv Shows at 708
Living Living+1 and Mtv Shows have their own temp slot so you can watch your old recordings.

No that swap is only happing on Freeview in the UK.

All we have on 129 is a black screen and an info bar that says Channel One is not longer broadcasting.

Excellent, so we're now 3 stations down ( both Bravos and Virgin/Channel 1)

    Yes.
The choice on UPC is shrinking.
We also lost a channel when Sky Real Lives closed.

Is there any chance that they'll ever get some decent channels like good food or watch?

It just doesn't compete with Sky on the choice of channels at all and as for that Craig Doyle add - 'all your favorite channels'!!!! What a joke!

It really is getting worse. More and more channels closing and not being replaced. The EPG is all over the place. And whilst this happens, UPC are ignoring it all. They really need a new communications team......

It appears that Sky's plan is working.

All the best channels are on Sky now.

UPC are going to suffer big time from this. Everyone will be moving to Sky.

Can't wait till Boardwalk Empire is on Sky Atlantic tonight!! :P :D

Could we use this as a reason to cancel? T&C and all that?

    I do indeed!
I feel sorry for anyone with UPC though.
Your paying the same amount as you were before, yet you have less channels now than before.
I doubt Sky Atlantic will be on UPC. I just can't see a deal being done between the companies. And at the moment Sky have stated that it is exclusive to Sky customers.
Sky will now hope that people will move from UPC or Virgin (UK) to Sky, in order to avail of the new channel and new channel line up, etc.

UPC is cheaper for Sports, thats why I went for it,
besides not being able to get Sky in some apartments

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 433 ✭✭Tarquin1970

UPC also have the advantage of being able to offer broadband and phone, it's not all about the number of channels you have, but the number you actually watch.

You don't need Sky Atlantic if you have broadband from UPC (if you know what I mean ;))

Sky will be charging for Sky Atlantic soon.

Yes from August onwards the channel will be put into the Variety Pack. At the moment all Sky customers can get the channel, regardless of what pack(s) they subscribe to.
So from August, Sky customers must have the Variety Pack in order to receive Sky Atlantic. However 98% of Sky's customers have the Variety Pack anyway. Lol.

Sky Atlantic should be on UPC to replace Channel One, and put Challenge on the old Bravo number :-)

Yes that would seem to be the most logic thing to do.
However, Sky are using Sky Atlantic as an incentive to encourage people to switch to/join Sky. Which makes sense.
I am surprised that they did not put Challenge on it though. I'd say they'll eventually put Challenge on UPC.

Got our HD box replaced. All done in less than 10 mins. The tech didn't even have to make any calls, just looked like he texted something in. All set up fine and very polite guy.Anyway, make of this what you will, but I asked were there any new HD channels coming. "Yes", he said, "we're getting 30 by end of the year, not all at once though." "30 eh? Interesting, and how are you doing against Sky? "We're doing very well", he resonded. I just smiled politely.

With Channel 4 HD to launch on Freesat in April, UPC seriously need to pull something out of the hat soon to beef up subscriber numbers.

Thats so true - UPC if you see Boards.ie please give the basic digital pack more channels

Wasn't Food supposed to launch last year?

Flicking through the channels on the UPC box tonight is liking walking through a shopping centre....a scattering of empty units. Hardly a premium service at the mo :(

Nothing is free on UPC but FX is part of the Max pack as far as I know.

Must take note of the channels as there around 8 or so which are unmatchable for me for some time now. I thought it was system wide as they are on channels less frequently watched (IMHO).
