I don't usually open the door as it is usually someone trying to sign you up for some crap i don't want or sell me something i don't want.

Ill only open the door if it is the post man or i see a company van out side eg dhl if i have ordered something or eircom as they have asked before to work on the phone lines and put there ladder in my garden.

Today someone knocked on my door just taught it was someone trying to sign me up to airtristy or some other crap {i realy hate those people that call from airtristy} But when i did not answer they just got back in there car and drove of now I'm wondering who it could have been as it was no one that i no and it was not someone going door to door as they only came to my house who could it be

I don't have a peephole whatsamathingie so I do open the door.

I have no problem just saying "Sorry I'm too busy to talk/Have no money to give." and simply closing it again.

I don't get why people are so afraid of opening the door or answering the phone to private numbers.

I don't open the door at all unless it's someone I know who's called/texted ahead to let me know they're coming.

Failproof, or at least it was til a couple weeks ago when I answered the door expecting a friend and was greeted by the German edition of The Watchtower.

Fecking Jehovah's Witnesses. Craftier by the year.

I do because I don't know who's at the door until I answer it. I hate opening to f*ckers trying to sell me crap I don't want. Some people are relentless too.

It's not being afraid, it's just not appreciating people interrupting my happy-not-at-work-time by trying to sell me sh't I don't want and don't need, or just f'cking annoying me with dumb questions or want for donations. Leave me alone, dammit! Some days I feel like Charlton Heston in The Omega Man.

We get this crap all the time where i live, if it's not some kid selling raffle tickets it's some jobsworth salesman/boy selling junk i do not need..This along with my letterbox full of useless crap when i get home after work.

It could be very traumatic if the stranger turns out to be your English teacher, who's wondering where you've been for the last five years.

But what if it's a friend or a neighbour or somebody with a super-duper surprise?

The suspense is too much for me. I have to answer.

What if I miss out on that super-duper surprise! Ack!

I hate opening to f*ckers trying to sell me crap I don't want.

Try t o sell them some crap back, even if it is a lump of the stuff that someone forgot to flush away. It will put a smile on your face.
If it's a phone company tell them you work for the opposition(No not FG or Labour) Same goes for any of the utilities.

Come on guys, be creative and post your results.

I live in the middle of no where, been here over two years. I had my 1st unknown visitor to the front door just the other day-was a bloke trying to sell me 3 broadband.

I hate them deaf people that knock at the door trying to sell you post cards and sh!t. They give you a little note telling you their problem and your supposed to feel sorry for them.

So you send them off. Then when they get to the end of your driveway you give them a shout and they turn back around. Cover blown!

Why are we so scared of strangers.... I've never heard of a 'normal', non criminal opening the door to an unexpected knock and subsequently getting attacked. Bunch of city bred scaredy cats.

No,I always look out the window lately just to see who it is and unless its a delivery or the postman or I'm expecting someone,I wont answer it.

I dont think we're scared of criminals - more couldnt be bothered telling the person that we're not interested in their religion / broadband package etc. Or in my case trying to be overly nice when Im not interested in something and being afraid to just say 'Sorry i'm not interested.' Stupid really - note to self - grow a backbone!!
