Undiagnosed Stomach Issue

    Hi there,

Really hoping someone can help me with this.

Since May of 2009 I've been experiencing stomach bloating & discomfort of varying levels of severity.

When it started, it coincided with the end of my rugby season, so I just put it down to less exercise & no reduction in my food intake.

But when I started back the following season, this just seemed to exacerbate the problem. I started noticing more frequently that my stomach would baloon up within about 30 minutes of eating & that would stay with me for pretty much the remainder of the day.

Other symptoms included difficulty breathing, acid indigestion & lethargy.

I eventually saw my doctor about it & tests ruled out a gluten allergy & any ulcers/abnormalities in the colon/stomach/oesophagus.

The only thing that was detected was some inflammation at the base of the oesophagus due to stomach acid reflux.

I was prescribed tablets to deal with this when it flares up but even while taking these acid inhibitors, the bloated feeling remains.
At this stage its always there, although I've just gotten used to it at a certain level, but it still flares up & causes discomfort & the other symptoms quite regularly (like every other day, if not more frequently).

My doctor, through lack of a diagnosis has declared it to be a possible case of IBS, but I cannot accept this.

I'm just wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar & overcome it. If so, please help!!!

    Thanks in advance

IBS is a common diagnosis for such issues that cannot be pin pointed.

I suffer the exact same and a change in dietary patterns has helped the issue no end.

MOD NOTE:I don't know what you are hoping from from this thread but medical advice CANNOT be given. We are not medical professionals here. My advice is to seek the advice from a dietitian who has experience in the area. A little google investigation will help you with that / MOD NOTE
