Well guys firstly sorry if there is already a thread like this, Ive had a quick look and see no evidence of one (unless im blind :P )

But I thought why not get a thread going where people can post up there "gaming" setup for their PS3!

    Here is mine:

the projector is an Acer H5360 3D (ready) DLP projecotr, currently I have no glasses etc for 3D but even without it's amazing :) I currently have it set up in my bed room beaming onto a White wall...it's roughly @ 100" or there abouts

The steering wheel is a Logitech G25 which i "pull" around when I play GT5

The PC is my "other" gaming set up, its in same room so thought I'd post

    hope you like,

    Welshy!

    Now it's your turn!!!....

At first I wondered why your chair was facing the wrong side of the monitor :pac: but then I saw... pretty damn cool projector if I do say so myself. Had one like it a year or so ago before I moved house. Brilliant, crisp, clear picture.

Steering wheel attached to glass shelves? Brave man. Would be far too fearful I'd shatter it :o

    thanks!

the glass table is a PC table sorta thing, and its very very stong, ive done lot's of driving on it with forcefeedback @ 100%, with no problems (touch wood) lmao

Tallon, that old setup is seriously nice man. I suppose it's all boxed away now? :(

Welshman, does that projector system use passive or active glasses for 3D? If it's passive, how much did it cost? Lovely picture

are you going to get a proper screen? if not i would recommend putting a border around the image with some black tape. it will help make the image pop more. and help with the edges of the image bleeding

3102derek, that is the mother of all loft conversions, the bloody amount of space you have man

With that amount of space, there's no reason not to have a setup like that! Nicely done man

Man I feel like such a pleb...

I don't have an pics of a set up and even the relatively humble tv hooked up to PS3 has to be put away since baby Red is starting to crawl and pull at things...

When I'm rich though.....I'll out do ye all! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,549 ✭✭✭Noffles

Holy **** that loft conversion is NERD WORLD... why do I think it's so cool...

Aww now my set up looks like it needs replacing... stoopid poxy recession stealing all my money!!!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 66 ✭✭Welshman666

@metzengerstein I have a HDMI cable connected, if your projector has a DVI cable you can get DVI to HDMI adapters (which i also have)

@EnterNow well the projector is 3D "ready" which means it can work with nvidia 3d vision out of the box, I haven't got it set up on the PS3, it's more complicated and i'm still doing more research. There are DLP active shutter glasses which I think work with ps3/this projector but I want to do more research before splashing out like €100 on the glasses

@3102derek the current set up is temporary until I get a screen, for now it's doing a nice job though :P must admit nice setup you have also :D

I love these kinds of threads, some very impressive set ups!

Here's my relatively simple set up. 40GB (boo!) chunky PS3 through a 36" 1080p Full HD Bravia. What's underneath is a selection of games and DVDs, didn't want to bring everything from home as it's a pain in the arse if I move somewhere else next year.

Sorry for the **** pic, the iPhone can only handle focusing on the screen or on the games, couldn't find a happy medium!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 741 ✭✭✭damianmcr

Got the unit on Friday evening and had lots of fun putting it together by myself (definitely wasn't a one man job!!!)
Doesn't look like I have that many games until you realise that they're stacked 2 deep:o

Was going to get a bigger TV, but the unit will kind of restrict me (37" would just fit without a stand)

    /edit
My camera seems to be ****ed by the way and is adding a fish-eye effect to pictures... The unit isn't at all warped!

Where the PC magic happens... (also a new desk, and the GF has kind of taken over it with her random stuff... Gigantic pair of scissors that don't even work??!?!?!?!)

The things you can have on display when there isn't a 1 year old running around!

Mine is a little more hidden away...

    IMG_20110130_140535.jpg

    Doors and drawer open.

    IMG_20110130_140602.jpg

USB's from PS3, xbox, mini-pc and a permanently powered one brought out to flip out box

    IMG_20110130_140633.jpg

The units have 120mm temp controlled fans in them because it can get HOT!

The pics are from my phone today, better but outdated pics of everything are here

Its really as easy as putting a cable into the back of the tv, just put it into the back of the projector.

Bare in mind that its possible for the projector to have the right socket but its unlikely you wont find a way around this.

Post a picture of the back of your projector and let us see whats there.

Dont have one. Just get one that has HDMI and all you need is a HDMI cable to connect it to your PS3 and your sorted.

    You sure about that?
    Every PS3 ever released has come with a HDMI port which a cable like the below fits into;

    This:
    http://cpcireland.farnell.com/_/av16213/floor-box-4x-xlr-plugs/dp/AV16213

    4 of these:
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/usb-panel-mount-socket-219901

And 4 usb cables. The USB sockets don't fit in the box (too long) so they needed chopping up and the USB cables needed to have the connectors cut off and soldered directly

I like it, it solved a problem and looks tidy too. The box is meant to be for floor mounting so its quite rugged and heavy (its cast) but is certainly passable down the side of the unit
