New Year, New Me

So I'm working on my new years resolution... get fit and healthy.

I need help with my complexion and dark circles.

    A bit of background...
28 year old male. Recently came off a year of regular binge drinking (5 sessions per week 6-8 pints each). Smoking 10 cigarettes a day. Diet is brutal bad. It basically consists entirely of chinese takeaways. Exercise was non existent. I'm tall, skinny and pale. I feel fatigued a good amount of the time.

So... onto the new years resolution...

I have started jogging almost every day (I was sporty in my teenage years so it wont be a problem to work through the pain and get fit relatively quickly). I am starting to cook more healthy meals at home which basically is more potatoes and veg. I'm taking a multivitamin and the high strength seven seas cod liver oil. I have cut down to one night out a week (6 to 8 pints). I have quit smoking. Getting to bed earlier and sleeping better.

I'm starting to feel better. What else can I do to try to get fit and healthy while gaining about 2 stone.

    Thanks.

Holy **** man 5 drinkin sessions a weeks is serious going. You say you are tall and thin. If you want to see results do this strenght program:

    http://www.startingstrength.net/workouts/

If you want to put on weight do GOMAD:

    http://stronglifts.com/gomad-milk-squats-gallon-gain-weight/

I think what youve listed there is a great start-dont take on too much to begin with and focus on sticking with that.
Fair play to ya and best of luck!! ;)

thanks lads. I'm drinking about 8 pints of water a day which is making me feel 10 times better than before. I think i basically spent a year dehydrated.

will try this gomad thing for the next while (basically drinking a load of whole milk and doing squats) to gain 10lb to 20lb.

Recently came off a year of regular binge drinking (5 sessions per week 6-8 pints each)

Am I right in thinking that that's somewhere between 1560-2080 pints over the course of a year??!!

    260 gallons of beer?!

Finished that madness about 4 months ago and am still feeling the effects. When you have too many drinking buddies and not enough gym buddies in a certain area bad habits are easy to pick up. Thankfully i moved and the appeal of the banter in the local quickly wore off. Im lucky the booze didnt get its claws into me and looking to fix the last of the damage. Fatigue does not come close to describing how fcuked the cumulative wear and tear effects make you feel. Idle hands... It was good fun while it lasted but never again.

Good for you - from what I've read about liver regeneration, your energy levels will soar once you cut out the alcohol and make the lifestyle changes you're in the process of making.

Keep us posted on your progress.
