IOL SSF4 - Online Tournament.

Hi Guys,

I wanted to gauge interest for another online tournament (Ireland On Line - Super StreetFighter 4 ). I learned a lot from doing the last one and I think that we could as a community keep an online tournament running consecutively?

It would be open to all players and all entries would be formed into groups. I would seed the groups as per the last tournament. (I am open to how to do the seeding for each online tournament) This way we could have an online ranking in Ireland? (This would take a couple of tourneys to normalize)

Rankings:
1st: FoamyMushroom
2nd: AyJayirl
3rd: A-Trak
3rd: Meducation
5th: Sairus
6th: Yreval
6th: Banjo_B
8th: UberPrinny_Baal

Depending on how many people we get would determine how big the groups are and the structure of the knockout. I would run the groups just like inferno and single elimination FT10 for knockouts to final.

Platform: xbox 360 with XBL

There would also be one golden rule. No show players for matches will forfeit that match. This would have to be strictly adhered to. I don't want to sound like a dictator (that's Azzas job), but from the last one, this was something that delayed the tournament and HYPE a bit.

So the big question is "Who's man enough to put it on the line". Post here so we can see if its a runner.

It would be run over the course of a month at different stages, so the groups would have to be played in the first week (times arranged by group members). Then the next week is knockout stages etc etc to final. I will have cut off points for each stage to encourage everyone to get their matches played before then.

Cool, I work shifts and only get to see the misses at the weekend, so hopefully wont have to forfeit any match's. Provided real life doesn't get in the way I'm definitely Interested (probably get blown up and peed on, but **** it :-P ).

Haven't touched SF4 since my thorough hiding in the last one but I might take part again for the hell of it.

I can't really commit to playing it over a period of time.
Over a single night, depending on date I could.

But over a long period I can't guarantee I'll consistently have access to decent internet, or at least, internet that isn't being rinsed by torrents.

Is this character locked? I like that idea

It would be nice to organise a character locked tournament where each character can only be picked once too. Surely every character has at least one person on here who mains them.

For those who don't know me, I'll be the punching bag in this tourney, but I like the practice

It will be character lock for the tournament. No lock on ultra selection.

I like this idea, and I think it would be cool, but it falls down in a practicality sense.

(1) A lot of people entering these tournaments play the same characters (Ryu, Deejay etc)
(2) A lot of the rest of the people don't like online play or have xboxes

So we'd probably end up with a lot of people playing secondary characters they weren't familiar with, and the few who got to pick their mains blitzing the tournament.

I'm all for a random select tournament though

I'm confused, how would that be an issue ?, the only problem with a character lock is you cant use a secondary character for your mains bad match ups. Worst thing about that is if two people play the same character you may have to play a mirror match, and most people hate mirror match's.

If this was a team tournament things would be different, cause you cant have 2 of the same character on the same team.

Ah right, well there's 2 Guy players including myself who post here so I wouldn't be a fan of that. Do we have at least one player who mains each of the 35 characters in the game ?, other then trolling I don't think anybody here mains Dan.

It'd be impossible I think.

Like, someone who's decent with Guile could auto eliminate my chances by forcing me to pick someone else.

And even in that case, who's claim to the character gets priority?

Well, it doesn;t look like meds will be in this one, so only me.......but then again, there is prenelf...... and imho, he's better than both of us.


Speaking of Meds, it looks like there will be one seeded place that will not be filled......

Three options really:

Promote someone to seed 8th from the last tourney. (i.e. number 9 - this would involve me finding out who that actually was - not desireable!)

Promote someone to the seeds based on level (consensus really required for this one)

or

Have a group sans-seeds.

Thoughts?
