    guys,

I'm 5ft11" weighing in at 18+ stone and want to loose weight,
I feel like crap, get bad stomac cramps, regular headaches,
pain in my joints(knee's and hips), my concentration levels are poor. I constantly feel hunger(but do not act on it - I just have my breaky, lunch, dinner and a cuppy tea with rich tea;s in the evening).

My wife is starting Weight watchers this week and with that we are changing what we eat and how much we eat. But I want to do more ... I want to get excersising again(used to train 3 times weekly and play 2 soccer matches when I was younger).

We have a <1yr old little boy, so my time to excersise is limited to 2 evenings a week and some of the w/e. it is limited due to the fact that I look after the small man when I come home from work.

I cant afford to pay for gym.swimming pool membership.

What do people recommend? kind of excersise/ frequency/intensity ...
I was going to do the walking/running bit 3 times a week but not sure if that will be enough nor do I know how far to walk/run?

First off have a good read of the Basics sticky. There'll be plenty of information on food and exercise in there.

But start off slow. Make small changes to your diet. Start off by moving more, ie. going for a walk in the evenings. After that you can start increasing the intensity, when you feel able.

And maybe also as a precaution, get a check-up with your doctor before starting anything too serious.

Was in same boat myself 6 months ago, lost about 3 stone and am feeling good, heres what I advise.
Ok, my advice is to set realistic goals, dont start exercising and one week later give up because you havent lost a stone. Its a long road, get your mind prepared for it!
Small changes as mentioned already, but particularly aim to eat 500 calories less a day, or 250 calories a day and burn off 250 calories exercising. Simple when you get the hang of it, and should lose you a pound a week.
Also if your not used to running, dont start and think you can run 5k straight off, I could barely run 1k but worked at it and can bang out a 5k in under 25 minutes now.
Also at least 3 litres of water a day.
Finally I cut down on the carbs, really works a treat. Had weetabix + OJ for breakfast, a wrap with meat and veg(raw peppers, iceberg lettuce and onions) plus mayo for lunch, then some sort of grill meat and veg for dinner, like chicken with broccoli, cauliflower and green beans, plus cheated with some butter on them to improve the taste. No spuds, pasta, rice, bread. And for a snack, its fruit like apples, bananas and a glass of milk to help the cravings.
If you do these things it'll be a great start.

P.S every week I go onto this website, it is fantastic and gives brilliant advice on fitness, www.menshealth.co.uk

Key to losing weight is diet.Eating healthy foods and to be honest i dont think weight watchers is a good idea as most diet meals are filled with crap and loaded with sugars.Couldnt you or your wife just cook your own food(unprocessed ).Would be alot healtier and im sure it would save you a bomb. Most people get the misconception that fat makes you fat but in fact its wrong.Over eating and eating processed foods make you fat.Shouldnt be starving yourself either.5 - 6 meals per day is advised with protein and veggies and maybe fruits and nuts as snacks, not big massive meals of course reasonable sized proportions.Losing weight is done by burning more calories than you take in.This can be done by cardio and exercise maybe this routine might suite you as you need no weights for it > http://www.muscleandstrength.com/workouts/full-body-bodyweight-workout.html with some cardio thrown in a couple days a week aswell?

Start off by walking every day and build up the distance. Also do streching execises.

You need to be aware 1 hours running will only use 600 calories.

Exercise, but get into healthy eating if you want to lose weight.

Have a goal/target and stick to it.

I was over 21 stone at 6 foot 1 inches and started weight watchers. Exercise makes losing weight easier and its better for you physically and mentally but make sure your diet is sorted as well. You can lose weight through diet alone dont forget ;) I started off small as well, went for a 30 minute brisk walk every night, try and aim for a 15 minute mile. Once I dropped a few stone I was able to do other sports, footie, squash but if you can, invest in weights, great fat burner!
