That's quite a vague question, best for what?

...not that it matters anyway, DCU is clearly the best.

    Trinners
pros: prettier, better location, deadly lecturers, have epic ski trips.
    cons: cliquey, self important.

    UCD
pros: better social scene, nice lakey thing.
cons: even more d4s than tcd, awkward to get to if your not a southsider.

    Crumlin Tech for me.

Trinners you get to be in town every day closer to the coke and hookers so I guess Trinners.
But then again RTÉ is quite near UCD so it's a close one.

i aint gonna lie, this thread has no direction and is going to start arguments.

    A quote I heard once

"Rome wasn't built in a day... neither was UCD... it just looks like it"

TCD is more beautiful to look at. UCD has better sports facilities.

Yes thank you, I gathered that, mate.
I asked you why are you on the website after 5 years... Were you especially memorable? / ugly ? /or an awful eejit they still talk about....?

    Trinity- Rich, posh cunts.

    UCD- Smug, unemployable cunts.

Depends which type annoys you less.

My guess is the one to the left of the DJ.

    Trinity pros:
    Great location
    Nice atmosphere
    amazing architecture
    free gym/swimming pool

    Trinity Cons:
    Elitist attitude
    Further from my house

    UCD pros:
    Bigger
    Nicer people
    Better sports facilities
    Closer to my house

    UCD Cons:
    A bit too big(impersonal)
    Further from town

Neither are a lot of degrees from Trinity.

I attended both in my time - I prefered UCD as the course that I was doing was more enjoyable, the people were friendlier in my experience and I met my husband there.

I am the Dub, my husband was actually from the country though we did meet in the Faculty of Agriculture...I loved my time there, great place. Trinity is great too but it was just not right for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,314 ✭✭✭Marcus.Aurelius

UCD is vast, impersonal but the students are quite friendly, if a little self-absorbed.
TCD can be a lot more close-knit, but you need a good clique to have much of a social life.

UCD has a good reputation for the Sciences, particularly Vet Med & Agriculture/Food Science, where I got my degrees. One thing I hated about UCD was the crap parking availability on such a huge campus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,766 ✭✭✭squeakyduck

UCD is the best, and I am a country girl in the big schmoke

UCD is big, but the facilities are amazing especially for science and sports. Now the Orts building could do with a massive makeover but whatever I'm not there any more. Lots of friendly people, on campus accommodation that you don't have to do schols for is another pro of UCD. Forum bar (enough said)

    As for Trinity,
    Snobby,
    Impersonal
Full of money (daddys little boys and girls) Well UCD is kind of like that too.

I lived on campus too, so what I thought was a monstrosity of a campus is like a little village to me :)

In all fairness UCD is a dump. I was there for 4 years. Trinity has better facilities, people arnt that friendly, campus accom is tatty and falling apart. Trinity is in a much better location and has much better pubs (the city center ones).

I'd say Trinity's better, it's not full of Catholics like UCD and there's a general understanding there that Ireland's place is within the British Empire, as it should be. As a side effect, it doesn't let poor people in too, which is nice.

Hardly, have seen those places from my primary degree and they were not nice...you do know that agriculture includes plants too?

Yes of course. I would imagine it covers a wide variety of disciplines that would have to do with pollination, geology, biology, pharmacy (diseases, immunisations etc). I was just taking the piss.

Anyway, Trinity is best. If you're a Northsider it's best to hang out with other Northsiders and culchies. The mummy's boys and daddy's girls will just get on your tits about everything. Mind you there are a handful of sound Southsiders but you'll only find them after 3 years of dealing with the knobheads.

Was a Southsider but I found that the two Universities that had the best academic standards were UCD and DCU, yes TCD had a great central location but that is not enough of a reason to go there.

In the official list of Best Universites in the World, TCD is the only Irish University in the top 50 worldwide. Just saying, if we're talking academic standards...
T.C.D. is considered an "Ivy League" University.

Dont go to either but I've drank in both and I prefer Trinity because of the pav!
