hi all

not sure i'm posting in the right forum but here goes.
i was in barcelona during the summer and rented a bicycle after not cycling a bike since i was about 10. anyway i really want to buy a bicycle.......

........ not just any bike, a vintage style bicycle with a basket on the front (probably lame but anyway!) any bicycle shop i've strolled into all have the same boring modern ladies bicycles. i don't care about having a 10 speed or anything like that. i just want one that looks vintage.

any ideas where i can get one??

I go into Cycle Bike just off of Capel Street every now and again and they seem to have some vintage looking bikes in stock. I'm sure there are many shops which would have something for you:

Cycle Bike - Just off of Capel Street
Cycleways - Parnell Street
Think Bike - Rathmines

Pashleys would be reasonably widely available these days- check the shops already mentioned, or City Cycles, or Euro Cycles.

Euro Cycles also stock the Cinzia Bombi, or used to, according to this thread- lacks the quality of a Pashley, but cheaper and lighter, apparently.

In fact, I've just remembered that a second hand Pashley was for sale in Cycling Adverts recently... And here it is: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056138646 (Her asking price is too high- you should make a cheeky offer!)

And there's always www.rothar.ie, where they'll build you a bike from various bits, or sell you a pre-loved one- you might just find the vintage frame of your dreams.

You said 'vintage style'. Maybe go for real vintage instead.
Try http://www.adverts.ie/for-sale/sports-fitness/bikes/209/
or any of the other buy and sell type of places and you can have fun picking up a bike for less than 100 euro.
You might have to spend a few bob, or maybe not.

I've also got a Princess I've been meaning to sell (17" frame, not 20" like that one) but haven't got around to advertising yet (along with two kids bikes, a trailer and a couple of child seats).

dublinbikeman (google it) has lots of old 70s and 80s bikes cheap that would seem to suit you.

if your looking for a genuinely old bike and not a modern reproduction id try the square wheel in temple bar dublin,think its on temple lane south im sure he'd hve something for you

Halfords have started selling pashleys. They come pre built and quality checked before they arrive in the shop. A friend of mine just got a governor from them...

I got mine from BikeDock up north. MRSPs of Pashleys seem to be adhered to, from what I remember.
