Well the finance bill has been scheduled to finish at the end of this week and assuming the government is dissolved after that (tuesday at the latest because of the no confidence votes) and given a 3 - 4 week campaign I am estimating 25th Feb.

But then again I'm not the only one who thinks its that date.
The Government and Opposition parties have agreed to pass the Finance Bill by next Saturday - after which an election is expected to be called for the 25th of February.

Hidden poll results = useless thread

Surely it's more interesting to get an indication of how the voting will go in the run up to the election?

Be hilarious if they failed to do a deal with FG and hopped into bed with FF as the majority party. Don't rule anything out...

Seriously if Labour ever think of getting back in bed with FF I'd safely say they would lose 75% of their membership 97 was too close a memory for some of us

No just the overall results, its a secret ballot

No, it wouldn't be hilarious. Labour have categorically ruled it out. So forget it. Fine Gael are even less likely to bend over for the eFFers, so there's virtually no chance FF will be in government. In fact, make that zero probability.

Exactly, don't be surprised what kind of strokes are pulled during this election. Nothing is beyond the political schemers in this country.

Have an idea who I am voting for, just have to decide the preferance.

Labour will rule out nothing once the votes are cast, neither will FG if it means being in power. FG are basically FF in another guise.

Who would have thought that the Greens would hold the balance of power in this country.

This country needs a turn to the Left and I don't mean Labour..

I've a feeling FF are gonna do a lot better than any poll suggests. Reckon a lot of people aren't up for revealing who they actually intend to vote for when asked. And on the day a lot of people will just say fúck it and give them a vote out of familiarity.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,044 ✭✭✭gcgirl

Any party who gets into bed with FF basically shot themselves in the head labour in 97, pd's are finished, the greens all of them will be on the dole end of next month, need I say any more

From a conversation the other day in a group of 8 people , 6 reckoned that FF were heading in the right direction and that with BL in charge they see us coming out of the sh1te.

Im not a mod and i can see the results as they come in. If they alter the results I will go to the United Nations and have the election supervised :)

Was thinking about altering the poll so people can see the results but I don't know how to edit the poll. If a Mod wants to sort it out, go for it. If not, I'll post up the results in AH on Feb 25th with some graphs and stuff :)

Yeah there will be some of that going on. People that never lost jobs and the pay cuts never really affected them and could still afford to pay their bills and live comfortably enough. A good few from that demographic will have no problem voting FF with a change of leadership. But granted the above just described me and i will and me fúck be giving them a sniff of ink from my pen come election day.

    FF stroke number 1 today.

USC charge reduced from 7% to 4% on monies earned after 10K for medical card holders.

A good thing, money will be balanced from self employed earning 100K+ p.a who benefited from the budget changes. 3% surcharge on earnings above 100K to be percise is the change.

FF stroke number 2 should be along soon.

Correct this group including myself have come through things relatively unscathed so far. I will never vote for FF.

Are you voting independant because of the quality of candidate in your area or just because you don't agree with any parties policies.

I voted for labour yesturday. However after seeing that absolute tool Joanne Burton last night I just could not justify voting for them in the election. That woman is cancer. Why in ****s name would you consistently put her on national debates? Because of her I don't know who to vote for, sinn fein or waste it on an independent..

The former. All Party associated candidates are asshats, as are most of the independants too :/

It's not the leadership that's the primary problem, it's everyone in party... A leader just ends up as someone to point the finger at...

Obviously people are entitled to privacy but I never understood the need to hide who you vote for. Are you ashamed of your political preferences?

People before Profit option should be changed to 'The United Left Alliance'.This is a recent alliance comprising of The Socialist Party, People before Profit and the Tipperary based Workers and Unemployed Action group.

Secret Ballot, as in a ballot box, or the poll above?

In a ballot box, I recon it's so you can't put together a report on who voted for what. Which means not being able to force someone to a particular selection and then being able to check up on it.

Publicly, yeah I'd expect people to discuss how they feel things should be...

in regards to the poll above, I would of expected it not to be a public poll as it could lead to quite a bit of abuse here, particualrly in AH. But I'm suprised to see it's a hidden poll, as others have mentioned before...

Could of been a great chuckle...

Just a general observation. Obviously I agree with secret balloting but in a social context, like here, I would find it strange if people were loath to fess up to who they vote for.

At the very least, it would identify FF voters who start a thread every day fulminating against the government's economic policies.

Labour for me by the way.
