I know it wasn't a kids show, but defiantely North & South, with Patrick Swayze, David Carradine and Kirsty Alley. One of my favourite tv shows of the 80's even if i was about 7.

    Other than that:
    Family Ties
    21 Jump street (mmmm....Johnny Depp)
    Mr. Belvedere
    Married with children
    Unsolved Mysteries

One of the best though: Moonlighting!

You can almost guess each posters age here, based on the shows;) I remember Silver Spoons well OP, it also featured a young Jason Bateman.

There's so many, but a few that I haven't seen repeated anywhere for a looooong time.

    Buck Rogers ("Biddy, biddy, biddy")
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qok-MJ8r38U&feature=related

    Simon and Simon
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDhz_mVcVCQ&feature=related

    Gemini Man
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTWLDa5DnpQ&feature=related

The Six Million Dollar Man ("We have the technology...")
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoLs0V8T5AA

    Man from Atlantis
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Smj78NAme9M&feature=related

    Hardcastle and McCormick
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIMAfwJSfKw

    The Fall Guy (oooh.....Heather Thomas)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw-GP1D6cdo&feature=related

I'll leave it at that.....for now. The problem is, that when you start looking at the intros for these old shows on Youtube, you keep finding forgotten gems from your childhood.

Oh I had totally forgotten about Major Dad :) I used to love that show! I started watching it around the time my dad went to the Lebanon for 6 months with army and I'd cry every time ha :D

I actually want to see the Six Million Dollar Man again, seeing as I've only ever seen one episode of it. But I'm not sure how well its aged though.

I'd also like the include the Incredible Hulk with David Banner in it.

I think quite a few of these shows would not live up to our expectations now, in terms of quality......but it's all about the childhood memories really.

The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries - best theme tune ever!

    The first TMNT

    Wishbone, simply for being bizarre

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,759 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Rhubarb and Custard - the lovable green dog cartoon, totally psychedelic, sounded like it was narrated by Vivian Stanshall and featured daft animations of birds in rain coats and umbrellas when it was raining lol

The Ratties narrated by Spike Milligan (truly nutty)

The Six Million Dollar Man used to be showing on Saturday mornings on RTE1 about seven years ago, if I recall, maybe they will show it again sometime.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

The Facts of Life - can't remember if it was a spin-off from Different Strokes or if Different Strokes was a spin-off from The Facts of Life,, anyway....

Would also love to see re-runs of the early Baywatch episodes, back to the Eddie and Shawny days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,047 ✭✭✭rebel10

Totally forgot about "The Facts of Life."!!!!!!!!!!
Wasn't it about a house full of girls, adopted, or something?????? Its a bit hazy, but i can remember a brown haired one, possibly the youngest, who was really annoying. God, that was ages ago.

+1 Highway to Heaven, Little House on the Prairie, American Gothic, Famous Five...so much good stuff I'd forgotten about!

And what was that Dinosaurs thing from the 90s? Think it was live action or something - and another Australian programme for pre-school kids with toys and random things that came alive (all I can remember is a hot water bottle!)

Yeah it was ages ago, it's a little bit hazy now for me as well, I can't remember but I think they were in boarding school, I remember one of the characters was called Blair and she was a right snob and there was a girl who always wore roller skates. The housekeeper in Different Strokes was in the Facts of Life as well as the same character and that's where the cross over came from. I just remember I used to always watch it when I was a young 'un!

I just thought of another one - 'My So-Called Life', cancelled way before it's time, ah Jordan Catalano was my childhood crush:D
