Sugarsync Referral Thread

Hey All,

In the same theme as the dropbox referral thread I thought it would be worth starting a SugarSync version. Sugarsync is similar to dropbox in that it gives you online storage but you get 5GB for free (plus 500MB if you sign up through a referral link) and you can choose any folder on your local hard disk to backup.

Personally I think it has a few more features than drop box and the extra space won me over

If you want to sign up use a referral link posted in the thread and both people will get an extra 500MB and once you are signed up post your referral link here for others to sign up with!

Do people recommend using your actual name or some nickname for the username?

e.g. "jsmith" or "superjohn"
Just wondering how visible that https link will be to others.

Go with which ever you feel better with, depends if you will be using it for sharing and wouldn't mind people seeing a nickname.

A little bit off topic but has anyone switched to this from dropbox, if so how do u find it better? I've a crap load of files I need to share between 3/4 people in different locations. Dropboxes prices are nowhere near as good as sugarsync.. Very tempted to change..

Just an FYI..

Similar to the Dropbox thread, I've absolutely no problem with this thread.

Referral links are using but not for commercial and personal gain (well, it's beneficial).

I am using Sugarsync to share documents for a project I am working on with some friends and it's great for sharing - When you share a folder the others are able to sync that folder locally so everyone has a normal windows folder and all changes are automatically synced between all users.

Haven't used dropbox to compare but it's VERY easy to use and works really well.

Oh Yeah, I dunno about the android app but with the iPhone app you get an extra 250MB for doing their "how to use the app" tutorial.

[edit] Bugger, ran into trouble installing this and checked their "known issues" section and it seems that Rapport causes a conflict. Rapport is a password security program that Ulster Bank use for internet banking. Surprised no one else has mentioned coming across this issue already
