Very little... I take it out as needed or stick it on the laser / credit card.

TBH I wouldnt start the practice of taking our a wad of cash and lodging same a few days later... Let's hope the taxman never calls you up for an audit...

What do you need that exact amount for?

I like to have at least a tenner on me, although I tend to use my card even if I have the money in cash.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭wolfpawnat

Only what I need and then add a tenner for safety. Went to Dunnes earlier and planned on spending 20e. So I brought 30e. Lucky I did it cost 23 because I saw a nice t-shirt for my kid for 3e!

I carry the laser card which is the equivalent of carrying whatever's in the bank.

Yeah but it a load of bollocks that it takes a few days to debit ,I would prefer if they changed to viza debit like some other banks.Instant removal of cash displayed that day

Bank of Ireland debits money and displays it straight away. The one thing they're good for! :D

No more than €40 which usually lasts me a week if i need to stretch it. Will bring more if i am going out but i leave the bank card at home so i can't spend more than i bring with me.

I rarely use cash for anything so unless I'm going out to the pub I'd generally only have about 20 euro in my wallet. The rest of the time I either buy everything online/over the phone or I'd use a laser card in the shops so no real need to carry cash.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,817 ✭✭✭myflipflops

    Minimum 200.

Mainly because I usually leave the credit/debit card at home. Over here, I can live with losing/getting robbed of 200 but I'm f**ked if my cards are gone.

OP, have you selected a mugging victim yet?

+1 when it seems like a lot of effort to go to an ATM then I won't spend money on silly needless things and this prevents me from wasting money

I'd have said he was a smoker. €8.55, pack of Benson & Hedges.

    God I miss them.

    Not really.

    But I do.

    But not that much.

Very little, €2 - €3 in small change (in case I need bus ticket/bread/milk), and laser and debit cards if needed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,958 ✭✭✭Chad ghostal

Usually get out around 3/400, which'll last me about a few weeks at least, depending on what I do.
*Live in a country with very low crime rate, so getting mugged/losing it, is an unlikely event \o/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Usually less than €50. I find myself using less and less cash all the time. In general I find myself only using cash for small things like coffee, lunch & beer. Anything over €20 tends to go on the laser.

I'll often use laser even when I have the cash in my pocket...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 589 ✭✭✭PAULWATSON

€50, you see I don't like to spend 5 minutes "chippin' an pinnin'" for a can of coke.

And also, I don't like people recording my purchases.

    Anywhere from a few pence to €200. Normally €20 - €100

You fcukin hated them, remember? That's why you stopped.

Chad I've been to >>{-{O_o}- and got mugged twice but then again I always walk around with a paranoid look on my face when I have a good bit of cash on me. I normally carry around what my congregation donate at mass on a Sunday which these days isn't much.

Usually 10 20 bob. I need no more. Anything over that I put on the Lazer.

I'll usually withdraw 60 or 80 and keep going with that til I have nothing left. That could be most of the week or if it was a Friday or Saturday it could be gone that night. I use my laser for some things but usually get cash back.

I will use my credit card for things like petrol, cinema etc... That's probably why I owe them so much money. But what bad could possibly come from having more debt than you can afford?

I kid, I can afford it and if I lose my job it will make all those years of paying payment protection seem like a good idea and not a waste of money like it's been so far.

    friday around 200-300

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭CaSCaDe711

Less than a tenner when working during the week, carry my wallet and cards and whatever cash is in that when out and about during time off :)

Generally not more than 20. If I need more I'll just go to an atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 533 ✭✭✭blackbird98

usually about €100. pain in the ass going to the atm every time I want to buy anything, and often the atm is out of service. between coffee, lunch & fags, would easily spend up to €30 per day. Also, most pubs dont take plastic for a few bevvies at night. and as another poster said, pain in the ass "chippin' * pinnin'" every time you want to buy anything. Anything over €20, I'd use the laser card

It's hard to see from the air, but the new 7 story underground shopping city is pretty impressive.

When I'm at home I wouldn't carry more than 50 quid, unless I was going out, wouldn't need it for anything other than food and drink.

    0-20 euro, very rarely more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 597 ✭✭✭Cook my sock

Generally no more that 20, Thats why I have a debit card.
and only carry the 20 because you cant use debit cards for transactions of less than 7 in some places, 10 in others. Its a shame really.
