Don't think I've ever had a flu. Have had a few bad colds though, but it's not the same thing really.

No, it's not the same thing. If you had real influenza it would feel an awful lot worse than the worst cold you ever had.

I must be really lucky. I've never had 'flu, although I've had two pretty bad colds in the past two months. And I don't suffer from hay fever and I don't have any allergies that I know of. All those jabs I had when I was five have served me well.

Yeah, at the end of November/start of December. Just the regular variety though, nothing swine-like.

Did get some heavy cold in November 2009 that lasted 3 weeks but I only took 1 week off work with it.
I persumed it was swine flu but dont know.
I didn't get the swine jab.
    It was horrible.
I didn't get the jab this time and haven't got the flue so it goes to show you.

I had the vaccine a week before my son was born in December.. Thank God I did.. My OH got swine flu 2 days after I got out of hospital with our baby.. He collapsed on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night, had to get him an ambulance and call my parents down to care for our new born while I went to Hospital with him.. Good times!!

Just seen thread. Had a terrible flu back in October, out of work for a week. Doc had't a clue what it was so didn't prescribe anything/

Then last week, I was dying for just a couple of days with a flu type virus, I wouldn't say it was the "real" flu as I was up and about on day 3/4. At about the same time RTE pronounced that 80% of cases around the country were of a swine flu type virus. Now its an absolute biatch, it knocks you out in bed for a number of days that you be sick of bed!
Then when you get better, it kindly gives you a sore throat a couple of days after recovering. Friggin weird whatever it is, a few colleagues in work have had the same thing over the last couple of weeks.

Trust me, when terry reads that post, the flu will seem like an orgasam
I took my anger out on a traveller earlier today, so there's not much left.
However, I do feel the need to say a couple of things.

See how the word "Taut" is blue and has a line under it in your post?
That means it is now a hyperlink. Please click on it and educate yourself.

I don't feel the need to point out that your use of txt spk is retarded, because Snyper has already done so in a round-a-bout way.

Now that's the Flu, and not a case of the sniffles that most people call Flu.

Had the vaccine myself. Apparently diabetes lowers your immune system.
After 5 minutes of arguing with my GP about the pointlessness of someone like me getting the jab, I felt sorry for the others in the queue* and gave in.

*Raffo69, this is how you spell a word describing a group of people waiting in a line for something.

I caught Swine flu on Dec 23rd as did my Mum and Sis around the same time, it totally put a damper on Christmas and New Years. My mum was then hospitalised for a whole week and is only starting to get back to herself this past week. It ruined my Christmas and even though I had swine flu in Feb 2010, it was away worse second time around.

My sis and I recovered perfectly but it really shook up my mum, but every cloud has a silver lining I suppose as it forced her to give up Cigarettes after 43 years smoking and has been off them a month now since she first got sick. Fingers crossed that she will stay off them, my sister got such a fright seeing my Mum that she also quit smoking!

Although she was so sick and it was touch and go for a while and we are all in agreement that is she did not have her Health Insurance she would have died only for the special treatment she got.

Imagine you're lying in bed with 'the flu'. Your windows are open and a fifty euro note flutters down from the floors above. If you really have the flu you would be in so much throbbing agony and nausea that you would let it float on its merry way. If you have the common cold you could jump out of bed, catch the note and be dressed for the pub in 10 minutes.

Yea I got the swine flu over chrimbo. A right bastid of a dose I must say. And I've had some doses in my time(no sniggering down the back). Really fcuked me over. Still feel slightly weak from it.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Having had both there are definitly a lot of people that can't hack a bit of sickness going by their complaints. A cold can keep you in bed if you let it. But with the flu you ain't got no other choice. Joints aching and muscle pain, going between hot and cold, headaches and eyes sore to move, sensitivity to light, stomach pain, cough and sore throat. You ain't doing shít if you've got a few of those symptoms. Had them all recently for over a week.

I had it in September! Bloody awful. Had to take 5 days off work and pretty much slept for that time. Paid the doctor €50 to tell me to stay in bed until I felt better

No, I got bronchitis this year instead, after having had a head cold for around a week.

It seems to me like there is a lot more real flu going around this year than in previous. I know a lot of people who've been proper, unable to really do anything, sick.

I've had the flu three times in my entire life - last time was six years ago. It's difficult enough to stand up, and when you do, you feel like you're going to puke. It's not remotely comparable to a cold, even a really bad one.
