Unless he's announcing that his group of imbecilies including himself are going out the door, then nobody gives a ****. Don't talk to us anymore Cowen until you give us the news we want.

One thing is for sure, he won't be resigning.

Of course he won't. He's going to push the patience of the Irish people so much, he'll have his own version of Tunisia to deal with.

I fixed your link, outandabout, you had boards.ie rather than rte.ie in the link itself. Easily fixed, thanks for the link.

I doubt it Irish people are to concerned about themselves to do anything to get rid of the government. We have a culture of giving out but not actually doing anything about it.

newstalk seem to think that cowen will announce the doubling up of ministerial positions. Given that there aren't that many ministers left you might not be far off the mark.

It's all starting to feel like the dying days of a brutal dictatorship... 'Only God has the power to remove me now!' and the like.

Pity we're a nation of moaners and not doers like those Tunisians and Greeks I've been watching and admiring on the news

Personally I haven't been motivated to march and protest before because of the elements calling those protests but I will be out if there is not an immediate election called.

Surely if Cowen can't appoint new ministers, his position is completely untennable.

BBC - two junior ministers threaten to resign if Cowen promotes ministers.

O Cuiv will be promoted to a more senior ministry I hear.

The ministers have gone, were all still ok the sky hasn't fallen. Would it be safe to say we can live without them?
Do we even need a Taoiseach, just have a president.

    My prediction.

Greens do deal with FF, Greens support Finance bill and new ministers, for FF's support for Climate bill. Life goes on unhappily.

No matter what he says, I bet that David Davin-Power calls it a "great/rousing/strong performance". :D

It would require him to be in touch with reality to realise this.

    Here we go...watching it live

    Resignations accepted

Some Waffle about how great those Ministers have been...

Apparently there is precedent for this. Newstalk said that Fine Gael did it in 1987 when Labour pulled out of that government.

If Cowen promotes someone to minister does that entitle them to a ministerial pension??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 171 ✭✭outandabout

It's live on the RTE player at rte.ie at the moment. So far nothing but what a great group of people the former Ministers were.

I didn't realise how much they had actually achieved.

    :)

No, they won't be in office long enough.

No, I believe they have to be in the position for two years to be entitled. They get severance pay: 75% of two months' ministerial salary I heard.
