Im not sure if this is the right place for this, but looking to join a gym in Galway for 3 months. I'm a student but never bothered joining the Kingfisher, something I regret now. I've tried looking online but Im still no closer to making a decision. I live in Westside and have no access to a car so it'd have to be in walking distance from there.

    Any suggestions? Cheers in advance.

Leisureland in Salthill is perfect for you. 3 month student memberships €150.

I used to be a member. Nice pool and decent gym, squat rack, free weights and all can be used while looking out on the sea......ah I miss Galway.

Look into the salt hill hotel, has a lovely gym. Also if you still want to join the kingfisher I am sure you could get a special rate till the end of the college year.

Anyone know if the clybaun is any good and how much? just moved to Rahoon and looking for a good gym around this area! Thanks guys
Here is my experience of the Clybaun Hotel when I went there to check out the gym a couple of months ago.
NRG in the Clybaun Hotel charge €550 per year, €325 for 6 months and €225 for 3 months. They also offer a direct debit option of €49 per month plus a €25 joining fee. Unlike Leisureland or the Salthill Hotel the staff here seemed utterly disinterested in being helpful. The place was swarming with kids and the parking situation was poor with people (presumably parents) abandoning their cars wherever they felt like it.

As already mentioned I'd recommend the Salthill Hotel if you're looking for a gym on the Western side of the city.

Well if you're planning on stating in galway longer than 3 months I'd definatly recommend the kingfisher. Not only is it one of the best equiped gyms in galway but since you're a student a years membership is only €250 which is close to what you'd pay in other gyms for just the three months.

I've heard from quite a few people that the Kingfisher gets ridiculously crowded at peak times.

Never heard that complaint about Leisureland before TBH malice. Decent price for 3 months and it has all the right equipment. Have no real complaints about it but I never went at peak times.

Yes after 3pm its just not worth going during the week, although it seems to have quietened down a bit since the exams are coming up. It'll be much quieter for the summer then we have the september and january influx to look forward to.

Just to be clear, I'm talking about the NRG Gym that's part of UCG, not Leisureland.

    Hi Guys,

I am moving into an estate near the Clayton hotel. I was wondering what would be the best gym for weight lifting wise that would be close by as i dont have a car and would like to knw if buses pass or anything.. I saw the kingfisher gym in Renmore. The pool is good but the weights arent too great in terms of space for deadlifts etc. What would be the best gym for weight training in the area and is olympic physique still closed?. Any help would be greately appreciated.

    Simple.Galway City Gym.
I live near westside and I walk to and from there 5/6 days a week. It's no more than a 25 min walk each way. It's definitely worth it.

I'm a member of NRG in Bohermore, only joined as training buddy joined there. The pool is also handy as I really enjoy swimming. If you're looking for a gym for primarily weight training i'd suggest Galway City Gym, i've heard nothing but great things about it with regards the facilities and all of the users of the gym.
