Best pre/post soccer training meals/snacks

    Starting up some training tonight after being out of action for a VERY long time. The session will be an hour long, but it will be 2 on most nights.
    I just wanted to know if anyone could give tips on what exactly to eat and how long prior to the training should I eat it.
    I was looking up some stuff online and I saw complex carbs being good and protein being bad and how protein shouldn't be the foundations of my diet, that complex carbs should be..
    And then I saw somewhere a healthy mix of carbs, fats and proteins should do me..

    Confused isn't the word.

    Thanks for that, it is a really great post but I was looking for a more fool proof one, with specific foods mentioned or drinks.
