I hope it's the right place, but I want to buy a "used" membership that has at least 6 months left on it.
Please PM me if you have one for sale.
    TIA, Arik.

have you tried asking westwood if they will sell you 6 months membership?
a friend of mine got one last year as he was leaving the country.

I did and not only do they still want a Direct Debit for 12 months (heard some horror stories from people I know where they kept deducting money from their accounts, also deducting it on different date of the month each time so they had to have enough cash in their current accounts close to those datesaga just in case).
They also want to charge me joining fee again (I was a member until late 2010 so I don't think it is fair and I'm unwilling to pay).

They also told me that by going for the 6 months contract while paying cash only their "system" will always force me to get a member of staff to swipe me in.

don't know how flexible they can be. But I lived in London for a while and my local gym had a similar policy. When I went in they told me there's no way they can give me a 3 month membership. I rang them again and told them I was leaving London in 3 months and there's no way I was going to sign a 12 month contract or pay for the full membership fee. They still said no, so I went into them again and just told them they're being silly, and needlessly losing a customer. They eventually gave in. I just paid 3 months and a much reduced membership fee

With Westwood, I had time left on my contract. When I rang them, they said I needed to give 30 days notice and that I'd need to pay an extra month.
So, I just cancelled my direct debit. -Haven't heard from them since, I don't think there's anything they can do.

Good idea about going there again. Although it is kind of sad that I need to go bag them to take my money.
Regarding canceling Direct debit I was told that it can reduce your credit rating which I rather not chance (that is way I rarely do direct debits.
I'll go there tomorrow or on Friday and see how it goes

Which is your local WW? I was a member around a year ago. I did free trial days in both Sandymount and Leopardstown before signing up. I found the sales team in Sandymount to be way more flexible and they offered my a lower sign up fee that they never offered in Leopardstown.

I joined on a 3 month membership. €75 sign up and then €95 per month. After the 3 months the membership would change to a monthly basis. I could cancel my membership at any time after the 3 months, just had to give them 30 days notice in writing. I did this no hassle and they never charged me again.

Once a member I was able to use any of the WW gyms.

I did ask if I'd be charged to join again (I was out of the country for 5 months) and unfortunately there was no negotiating with them over the sign up fee. Thought that was a bit harsh.

First of all I rang all three of them to see whether any of them are more felxible.
The 3 months option you took would cost the same as a six months off peak (without joining /administration fee that I won't pay since I left them less than 2 months ago).
Btw, for me it's all about the price this year, as the new taxes took aditional 5 precent off my net income compared with last month.

The problem is that they are still far better than the rest of them in Clontarf and that area (for a family at least).

Last update, branch manager got involved but still won't budge on rejoining fee / length of contract, so they preferred to lose me as a member (they already did) than be a bit flexible on that.

Fair play to them for sticking to their policies of joining/rejoining fees and 12 months contracts but pity it doesn't suit me at this stage.

Last update, I bought out someone today so saved myself the 12 months contract as well as the dreaded Direct debit so I'm only (willingly) being ripped off by the monthly charge.

weswood are a rite shower, was with for well over a year, I decided that I wanted to finish up, so cancelled my dd just after the payment for the month ahead went through..

so I head in in my gear a week later, my card doesnt work, I'm told I cancelled my dd without telling them..I tell them I'm well out of contract, and that the most recent dd gone through covers me up untill the end of the month(3 weeks away).

They refuse me admission as I didnt ask them could I cancel my dd first. I was polite, asked to speak to the manager who was a you spanish girl, and she kept reading t's and c's to me.

I told her again, I have paid , so please let me in. No joy..I told her to forget the t's and c's for a moment, that I was a paying customer there for the last 18 months, and that I know loads of other members and that If they refused me entry that I wouldn't be talking favourably about them over a few pints in the pub..

She then went back to reading t's and c's, so i left. Never again, and they still send me annoying texts and letters..

Just today the lady whom sold me her membership was told that her account had been charged for next month event though she froze it last month. That is way I never sign DDs
