I am doing Tom Venuto's supersets the past couple of weeks & his warm up is

Arm circles - 15 each direction
Tai Chi Twists - 15 each direction
Trunk circles - 10 each direction
Bodyweight prisoner lunges - 15 each side
    pushups from knees - 15

I'm interested to see what the consensus with this is. You often read conflicting things about warming up before weights. One camp argues you should do cardio, get the blood pumping etc., the other camp says you should stretch & do light repetitions of the exercise you're about to do.

Personally, I stretch out the areas that will be involved in the lift, then do two sets of 50-60% what I intend to be lifting. Taking time to stretch between these warm-up sets.

Id never ever do cardio beforehand, saps my strength bigstyle. I start with some gentle arm swings, bodyweight squats, empty handed curls, extentions etc whatevers getting worked that day.
Then I start with an empty bar do 3 reps, then add a couple of plates going by feel as to how much weight(I find bigger muscles need more sets) keep doing sets of 3 until you feel ready for the work sets
