    Hi,

I went on a j1 last year year and went through SAY IT, Alan the guy who works there was lovely & so helpful. But this year i'm wondering if i can save a bit of money by doing it myself? I just need some help.

WHERE can I get JUST a j1 visa on it's own? JUST the visa and nothing else and how much does it cost?

    you need:

FLIGHTS- return flight May 30th - September 12th or Before is 417.18 (boston)

    US EMBASSY FEE €108 -

SEVIS FEE €30 - Not sure what this is but it's 30 euro

VISA- I can't get any info on this so dunno how much it is?

DS-2019 - A form you have to fill out that you ave to present at the airport to get you social security number

DS 160 - A form you have to fill out before your interview

WITHOUT the cost of the visa it adds up to €555.81, that's half of what I paid last year.... hope someone has tried it and MIGHT be able to help?

    Thanks :)

As has been mentioned here and here, you apply for a J1 yourself. Only designated sponsors can issue the DS-2019 and without this and a sponsor for it, you won't even be looked at in the embassy.
