    Hi all,

Does anyone else think Blackstairmountain looks great value at 16/1 for this, he travelled powerfully last week and Townend was too easy on him to the extent that he got collared. Maybe they were saving him for this.

Might do him each way and in straight fcast with Hurricane Fly

Is peddlers cross going to run? Hope he does.

Also really looking forward to seeing Dunguib although I'm not expecting to see him winning!

Peddlers Cross will run at Haydock next week vs Soldatino, should be informative.

Wouldn't have BSM on my mind for the ICH

Wouldn't have blackstarsmountain on my mind for any 2 mile hurdle I think he looks more of a staying hurdler

Willie said in Sunday's Racingpost that BSM was unlikely to run

55 to back on Betfair, nothing on the lay side

Am particularly interested to see how Dunguib gets on.. but can't see hurricane fly being beaten..

Anyone backing Mikael D'Haugenet in the novice chase, 7/2 seems decent?

Can't understand why there going 2 miles again. Was readily outpaced the last day and could jump as well.

Jump brilliantly in the Drinmore and was a likely winner. Surely up in trip rather than back in trip would be the way to go with him

Thats the logic I would have taken too Richie. I take it you are a big fan of the horse from looking at some of your previous posts ? Was there an excuse made last time out ? 7/2 always looks generous on a horse of his quality, from a far at least.

Hurricane Fly all the way in this. I do hope Dunguib runs well. Dunguib is second favourite on Betfair at the mo ahead of Solwhit. Not sure i agree with that.

I reckon Realt Dubh should win the Novice Chase. He has been most of the field here before and I agree with Mikhael needing further. Flat Out looks a decent prospect over fences too so he could go close.

Can't understand sending Mikael over two aswell. Thought the RSA would be a more suitable target for the end of the year.

Mikael won't be running in that race I'd say, can't see Mullins running him over that distance again. He's entered in the 2m 5f Grade 1 novice chase at Leopardstown in early February, he is a lot more likely to run in that I would think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭Goldcupfav

Is Mullins not going for the RSA with QUEL ESPRIT ? The talk at the start of the season was that that race was his aim. Think he is kinda the forgotten horse of Mullins yard this year. Won his beginners chase easily beating TORPHICHEN who has since won a beginners and finished 3rd beaten 5 lengths in a Grade next time behind REALT DUBH. I think he could be a serious price at 23/1 on BF due to run this week either on Thursday or Sunday.

I've just been researching the same thing! I hope to god he runs Sunday as I'm getting paid and doing a few ante post bets on Friday. A Thursday run could put him back in the spotlight.

    menorah anyone? ;)

Yeah im also doing most of my ante post bets on Thursday. Cheltenham last year was a washout for him as he fell at the 2nd in the Neptune then ran 2 days later in the A.B. and ran no race. Really think we are yet to see how good this horse can be.

Sorry this is a bit off topic for the thread !!

    menorah anyone? ;)

I'll give you 10/1 if you like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Dunguib ruled out of this race. Something to do with a blood test.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭bit of a bogey

V dissappointing about Dunguib. It has completely taken the gloss off the race even if he was an unlikely winner!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Anybody fancy a double on MM and Hurricane Fly? 50 returns 117

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,232 ✭✭✭meriwether

    Pity about Dunguib.

He wasn't an unlikely winner either if he could match the form, of Menorah and Oscar Whiskey, whom he split last year.

This thread is about the Irish champion hurdle in Leopardstown, not the champion hurdle in Cheltenham.

    sorry you guyss !!!

lump on hurricane fly so :D:D:D:D

I think Voler la Vedette is Great Value Getting better all the time :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

One for the forecast,I don't think Hurricane Fly will lose. If Fly loses,Cheltenham can be kissed goodbye.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,191 ✭✭✭NewApproach

What price is HF at the minute?

It looks a formality, especially with no obvious pace in the race. Anything about 2/5 is value imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭minty16

1/2 with Powers. Only site I can get to here in work. Agree btw.

Ya,1/2 everywhere on oddschecker atm. Was 4/7 in a few yesterday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,232 ✭✭✭meriwether

    Anyone going?

I'm looking forward to going I havce to say.

The arkle doesn't look overly strong however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 528 ✭✭✭bit of a bogey

I think its a decent arkle. Very open so something very nice could come out of it. Pity Quel Esprit isint another one thrown in the mix.

Anyone know which the yard thinks their best novice is? Flat out or Quel Esprit?

I personally prefer Quel Esprit but I seem to be alone. Could be an ideal candidate for the new Jewson.

Over the Arkle trip I think they're right to go with Flat Out, Quel Esprit will need further and the PJ Moriarty next month makes more sense. Quel Esprit won his 2 hurdles races over 2m4f and 3m and his chase win was 2m4f, think 2m1f would be too sharp. Agree though I think he's a real prospect over fences

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

I'd have Quel Esprit over Flat Out too. Both look nice for the future though

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,173 ✭✭✭hucklebuck

Pity about Dunguib and Blackstair(will be tracking his next race) not running. I reckon I will do HF and VDV in a forecast.

I don't rate blackstairmountain personally. I'd have Cue Card over Dunguib if they were to meet in the English Champion

He is alright but as I was saying he looked like he was being given a easy race and that is why I am willing to back him next time out. Agree on Cue Card he has done well in better company and for me is still improving.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Cue Card's run behind Menorah is good enough to warrant his place in the CH.
Back on topic anyway. Hurricane Fly can't really be looked past for tomorrow can he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭Goldcupfav

Noble Prince is decent value at 6's for the Arkle tomorrow.

    NO

He might deserve his place but why go when he's very unlikely to win and theres an ideal race for him there in the supreme.

    NO

He'd have a better chance than Dunguib. I never said to go there,I'd put him in the supreme.

I'd love to lump on Hurricane Fly but don't have the gambling courage to do it:mad: Think the forecast with Solwhit is more or less a cert as the two of them are way ahead of the other 3.

Just another thing, who is the commentator that does the earlier races on RTE racing? He's absolutely shocking!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Did that well, didn't travel very well though at times during the race. Asserted well at the end though.

What race did you watch. He was cantering all over them 2 out still under restraint. He travelled superbly and could have won hard on the bridle if Townend had felt like it.

Willie even sent out Thousand Stars to pacemake for Solwhit so there would be no excuses:P

He could have won on the bridle but Solwhit travelled better than him when Solwhit was still on the bridle and coming on the outside, went to about 1.9 I think.Still did it well though.
Haha, true. Wonder where Solwhit will go next,he won't want to see Hurricane Fly's backside again.

Solwhit did not travel better than Hurricane Fly.

How could he possibly when HF was still on the snaffle at the last

I'm sorry but your not making any sense.

Hurricane Fly never came off the bit until Townend pushed him out at the back of the last.

Solwhit was under strong pressure 2 out.

Hurricane Fly cantered all over him.

Ok maybe I just interpreted it wrong.
